Description
The Antares is the sister ship of the Acherus, built to disable Factorum bases and fleets without exposing more expensive assets by using replaceable drones instead of expending pilots on attack runs.

The Antares also contains a magnetic cargo grid on the inside of the hangar, specifically designed to hold captured Factorum technology for research and integration later on.

Operation: Go to one of the 4 drone controls, turn on the drone's antennae, go into the drone you wish to launch and you can turn on its AI after launch, or do them all at the same time and disconnect them one by one. For the last drone in the hangar, you need to move backwards a little bit to let it out. I was planning a full launch timer, but that isn't for this iteration :) you'll see!

In any case, I appreciate you hearing my request! Didn't expect such a quick reply.

Lol yeah Steam's functionality could use some work, even after all these years.

While probably unintended, this ship lends itself very well to the Prototech parts.

In survival, I removed the two center engines and installed Prototech thrusters in their place by using the advanced welding/attach mod, but this could be done with vanilla merge blocks too. It was very cool using space tugs to slide the upgraded engines into place like a proper scifi shipyard. I also replaced the jump drives with captured prototech jump drives. These were harder to fit, but I managed to make them work.

There is just one problem with this area that could complicate even the normal design.

Those two middle engines are a weak spot. Taking them out knocks out connections to the upper and lower engines. You also use of the connectors on the outside of the engines. I learned this when replacing the engines. Fortunately you left lots of space for redundant piping, which I installed to resolve this.

I suggest you add more redundant pipes for this area of the center two engines.

Piotrix did the hull and thus conveyor system, and yeah he's proven to not really build them for survival which is rough. I've already done more rewiring of the hulls I've been working on recently so there won't be as many problems moving forward, but I can definitely go back and rework some stuff.

Gotcha, I use the Multi Grid projector plugin which is awesome for just that reason. It also lets you do other awesome things like make a repair projection and align the projection using the normal movement/building keys. You can even change your view while aligning, I can't recommend it enough.

Nah you can't have subgrid projectors "built-in" on a survival-built ship, sadly. Not unless you have mods.

Thanks! I can build the projectors of course, just gotten super lazy after all these years and thought maybe they were built in ;)

Building printers in survival is super easy - the drones I just keep forgetting to upload, but they're just my https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3347821028 with the wingtips cut off and a few more cameras all around for situational awareness.
