Description
TL;DR = I'm retired, the map is what I had before I quit. If it is broke, then it remains that way till someone else takes the reigns.



This is the last time I rewrite this description... Also in "proper english" for everyone's ease.

I mapped for this game for nearly 11 years. I went from knowing nothing, having to much ambition and producing garbage... to learning the inner workings of the source engine, studying maps and the genre itself for better understanding, homing my craft and my skills... to still produce garbage because I had to much ambition for my own good.

Every single map in my catalog is incomplete, buggy, laggy.
I know they are laggy, I didn't truly learn out the optimization system of source and how it worked till the tale end of my mapping life.
I know they are bugged, I didn't have coding knowledge and I didn't make friends during this time, so I had no one to confide in.
I know they are incomplete, I was to ambitious. I had so much planned and so much already partly made, but I never learned how to stop and actually look back to see if anything I had made was even worth it.

The experience is not going to be great, maybe not even good, I know this. But I still want these maps out there for the history. Every single one a snap shot of something I was trying at the time, a look into a younger mind of someone still learning the ropes and drowning in her own dreams.

Hate it if you want, it is you time, your taste, your opinion... I will not stop you.
Voice your hate if you want, I don't look at the comments anymore... I stopped looking years ago.
Rage about how bad I was else where if you want. We are all just trying to live our lives, and I decided a long time ago that this isn't where I am going to live anymore.

I value the time I spent, the 24,000 recorded hours in the authoring tools. I value the lessons I learned, the skills I now have, the memories I gained. It wasn't the best time in my life, so could say it was even the worst point, but I can safely move on... without feeling the need to ever again look back... and know that I left my mark no matter how small.
Because for every one of you that feels the need to be rude, hateful, vindictive... I know there are the silent few that did enjoy it, and that is more valuable.

I closed this book a while ago, but now I can finally shelve it.
Maybe you will see me again, making my own games, or maybe not... Is the beauty of the unknown and unwritten future.
I bid you all a wonder day, a valid existence, and pray we all reach better pastures~

If you are crashing... try putting shaders and ozer visual settings to medium or lower...
This vas made back before L4D2 became so unstable... so if zis doesn't help... Sorry, but I don't map anymore... vorking on my own games, not modding somezing zat ze devs abandoned...

And if you are someone who can't be bozered to even temporarily lower some settings to play somezing made half decade ago... Zen I can't help you...

So what is Haunting Grounds?...
Is a single map campaign... featuring a boss fight... carefully crafted to be difficult, but far from unfair or impossible...

No infected... But the boss is no push-over either...
While the most damage it can possibly do in one attack it around 5~10... The boss is designed less as a DPS race against something that can instant-kill you... but rather an endurance run against something that can take a wave of bullets and still fight...

It is a fight of endurance... Your's VS Its... Can you best the Demon Mannequin?...

Q: Haunting Grounds sounds familiar
A: It could... this was the first project I publicly announced... back in 2010... It has alot been through 41 revisions as I continue to get better... and when you get better... your older stuff looks like ♥♥♥♥... then BAM... you start from the beginning again...

Long time fans will know of this... and should hopefully be happy to finally play a part of it... ;)

Q: Why is there a teleporting mannequin?
A: Don't ask why... just shoot it...

Q: Is it too Hard!
A: That is not a question... But to answer it anyway... This map was made and tested as a ONE PLAYER experience... the difficulty range isn't that different with 1 or 8 players...
it is by no means an easy map... but it is far from impossible... solo or not... you just need to pay attention to your surroundings... Do that, along with not being sparing with pills... and you can and will win...

honestly, this boss is pretty good and fun! until it's last phase... but before I get to the bullshit last phase, I wanna say that everything is pretty well crafted, good music, saw blades that are hard to dodge but not to a point where it feels like bullshit (until the last phase) and overall a good creepy aesthetic. but after you beat the really fun two first phases, the last phase throws all the things that made the boss fun out of the window and spams the saw blades and puts you in water with heads that spin around the map that are damn near impossible to hit. if the saw blades weren't spammy in the third phase then it would've been really fun to play. even with the bullshit third phase aside, this is a really fun map!
