T.N.N.S.F., previously known as Tir Na Nog Science Foundation, was acquired by a mega-fund of the local star sector.

It wasn't really a surprise, since the group has been in constant financial predicament for a long time.
As star sectors and planets gradually got explored and colonized, the focus of various space occupying factions has long shifted towards commerce, resource mining, and conflict.
Non of which is T.N.N.S.F.'s wheelhouse.
There are still needs from fringe worlds, but they can ill afford large fleets or finance extravagant star ship development projects.

Fortunately, talents of the now former science foundation are well recognized by the new board and management, so the scientists and engineers are still working to develop new products.

The modular design of the new medium transport ship -- Mianra, is the result of a more pragmatic design philosophy.
It has immense adaptability for a wider market, and huge future attachment product development potential.

A group of employees are to maintain the existing product line developed during pre-acquisition era under the same name of Science Foundation.

The rest of the work force is now consolidated under a new name with the same abbreviation as T.N.N.S.F. --

I am still busy, as that is the truth of a fulfilling life, but I do want to come back at least from time to time.
But instead of making completely new design every time I come back, I want to make builds that are in a way more "future proof".

This idea prompted the concept of a low cost/basic base vehicle with modular section for more specific roles.
I've seen a lot of ground vehicles with this concept, but not a lot of ships designed like this.
And it gives me the opportunity to always come back to make new stuff whenever KEEN updates new stuff.
It plays well with being survival friendly, too.
Instead of building completely new ships or modify every time, just pop on a module you want and you are good to go.

It'd be even better if people come up with their own attachment module for all the crazy needs, making it truly a useful addition to their play through experience.
