RT-07 "Wren" Micro Shuttle

The RT-07 "Wren" was originally a passion project by one particularly bored deck chief aboard the CVN-19. Lovingly crafted from the finest rejected plumbing pipes, cafeteria trays and a lot of good old fashioned ingenuity, to call the Wren a hack-job would be an understatement. Nonetheless, it was rumored the day she was launched out of the stern drop pod bay, even the admiral of the fleet couldn't help but hold back a smile.

Working off those original napkin plans, Ikuyo Aerospace Industries has recreated the Wren to be an ultra-low cost serial production shuttle. The Wren, like the larger UV-119 series only required water-ice to refuel and recharge it's batteries making the small connector on the bottom entirely optional. The two fuselage mounted passenger benches allow you to carry crew between ships or planets over short trips.

• All Environments: Boasting a frankly wimpy hydrogen propulsion system, slightly more fuel capacity than your weed-wacker, and zero critical redundancy, the "Wren" will nonetheless land and make orbit from every planet and moon in the solar system. While packing minimal fuel, the onboard hydrogen generators and engine combo give it impressive range when in space, and enable it to refuel in ~2 min from any ice-bearing asteroid or planet.
  
• Better than Nothing: If you had the credits for better options you would have bought the UV-119. That being said, the RT-07, will take you from the surface of a planet to orbit and back again. Hell we'll even send you the plans and you can build one with a basic assembler or something. It beats the hell out of trying to ride into orbit on your space suit.
  
• Zero Versatility: Have you ever wanted to carry between 1 and 3 people and maybe their packed lunches from Point A to B. Good because that is all this thing does. We also thew a garage door opener in there for free. You're welcome.

Tongue and cheek writing aside, I'm fairly happy with this little guy. It was a quick build but it was pretty fun slapping it together. I think shuttles are probably among the most useful class of ships in space engineers and this was one I designed explicitly to be the very first craft you might build to leave a planet. It's got all the bare necessities, just slap an ore detector or whatever else you want on and send it! The whole thing is build able with only a survival kit and basic assembler (my speed-run record is about 30 mins from spawning in a fresh world to having this ready).

This design took tremendous inspiration from the Dove Mini Shuttle by Panzer 6 Boy. It's a fantastic little craft that's served me so well I wanted to try my take on the concept.
