Description
The Halcyon is a Core7 Heavy Cruiser made for Reforged Eden 2.

Built first and foremost as a Heavy-tanking ship, The Halcyon, while small on stature, is big on armor. This ship is an absolute unit of solid and thoughtful armor-mass. The airframe prioritizes weapon-protection above all else, with a double-armor sleeve arrangement for 18 Light Manual weapons, with a central-frontal Light Manual decoy enscorced in 3x thickness armor on all sides, and 12+ layers in front.

Using a functional-central decoy buys this ship extra CPU, nothing goes to waste. Your decoy section is 4x dispersed thrusters throughout the depth and breadth of your frontal armor, as well as a Generator and Manual weapon for a total of 6 decoys.

Think this is small for a Battleship? Tour this ship's internal structure to find a shocking full-upgrade path to the highest possible shield strengths in the game, The Halcyon fits all possible shield extenders, and can also house a Small fusion core, with room to spare. The ship comes standard with expansive Hangar, making this an excellent super-efficient killer that can also function as a daily driver and for tasking.

The Halcyon has nearly 1 Million storage Volume, with all of it's storage volume being completely armor-wrapped, and it's main ammo controller being housed with vital components in the most secure location on this ship, This ship can lose it's entire frontal armor structure up to the pilots cockpit, 20+ layers of 7-wide armor, and not just survive, but continue to fight. I know, because I did. The ship is thoroughly tested and videos of this ship's capabilities can be viewed along with it's pictures on this workshop page.

Don't need all that upgradeability? Don't have the parts yet? Your shield hangars can be repurposed to mount turbines, constructors, or additional storage. Don't have a Fusion Core? The Halcyon can accommodate 2x Advanced gens. Don't have upgrade kits? The ship doesn't need them. It functions on all light weapons, and can kill some of the game's most lucrative, and largest enemies, with it's standard loadout.

This ship is thoroughly damage and explosion tested, it was built to take on Eradicators as a Core7 as it's baseline. It is also exceedingly efficient, resilient, and versatile. The Halcyon has smooth and even turning, with maximum omnidirectional speeds, and solid weapon-convergence for highly accurate fire at close range.

This blueprint requires 28 Plasma converters ( 5k credits per ), these can be bought at Bertram's Arms vendors on any Polaris Trade station. Mining 1 Neodymium asteroid and selling that Ore at any Polaris refinery will net you enough for all of them, and then some. Aside from The Plasma converters, this ship requires no special parts.

Arcadian?
If I understood rightly if i am after Eredictor i use Arcadian? I have one still sitting parked. No scratch on his haul. Paint is crisp and shiny. I am at the moment moving from Legacy space trough Solitude ( harvesting ice) with 12 Quantum cores made as i go. God know what new ships Art going to put on market so just to be ready. Btw moved a lot trough legacy space exploring and marking VODIUM , guess one day they going to introduce tools for it and purpose . Its there and make sense to me. Most of kills actually i did in habitable, systems as rule you will have pair Infector/Decemator plus that spiky flying missile launchers (cellula or something like that). Havent see any Eredictor .Mind you every exotic, BH and such i warped in and looked for.

Starcadian rocks , you take Infector and Decemator simultaneously including waves of Legacy drones which turns in to join fight . Not sure any more (till test) what will Rigor do, because they nerf missiles. Just harvested 2 sets of Quantum processors for QC-s on habitable planet sector in Legacy space. had just one minor rapier(lost front 6-7 Xeno blocks. Warped out to my Quartermaster parked in local cleared Asteroid belt with mobile rep. platform.Left fight actually due to phone call i had. Artemis's builds just killing me. I am just thinking OK i need sets Aux and 4 Quantum than i peek to his work shop and i look offerings than i realise there is 2 more his ships i must have. I am spoiling his ships with extra cores where ever i can plug them. Lol my Quartermaster is with 16 cores . We talking carrier with all Antimatter Drives including 2 additional suggested by his self. All perks possible . At the moment it carries 2 CV-s on deck. Starcadian and Krill Ore Decimator.

Ok. Cheers

If you have the quantum processors for a Core9 I would go straight to an Arcadian or Starcadian, yes. They both have better upgrade options. The Halcyon is a no-extra resource requirements core7 design, similar to the Shippo, if you have quantums, no need to bring in a Halcyon.

Just getting into ship combat and was wondering if I should spawn in this or The Arcadian at Core9 (or Core11) with the turret modifications you mentioned below.

If you failed to kill Infectors on Shippo and thought you sucked at this game, then re-think and use this ship. I took down Infector with very little issues with this ship! I recommend this

Are you adding all the hub cap and ring lamp decor items as an extra lightweight 500 health layer on all your designs? I'm thinking yes, but just wanting to be sure it's not just a chosen aesthetic. Learning a ton from your builds!

I have a new airframe that is 8x heavy manuals, DM me on discord if you'd like to test it, wont be published until the weekend.

8x Heavy Manuals on a ship of this size is The Arcadian.
