Greetings Captain, and congratulations on your new command! You were our top pick, after our previous choice was [REDACTED]. We've compiled this brief informational guide to your new vessel, to quickly prepare you for your first patrol.

Class Overview

Carrying 8 torpedoes at up to 52 knots, in levels of crew comfort unheard of for an Aridistani submarine, the Project 710 has already proven itself as a highly successful design. It features many systems to master, which all combine into a lethal attack submarine. While the Arid-SSN program faced many hurdles, the end product has certainly delivered.

However Captain, we must caution you: The 710 series of boats are many things, but quiet is not one of them. The bureaucratic process that mandated piston-based propulsion failed to consider noise as a factor. While the Admiralty maintains that this is "No cause for concern", operational command recommends use of ambush tactics OR the towed decoy when engaging targets expected to return fire. Furthermore, other captains have reported success in using the auxiliary thruster(on battery power alone) as a significantly stealthier, albeit slower option to the main propulsion system.

Offensive Sensors:
To enable its primary mission of attacking sea targets, the Project 710 Class features a multitude of sensors. These are all joined at the Fire Control System(FCS), and allow for weapons to be launched at any target. This connection is two-way, allowing for rapid synchronization of contacts between stations. You are able to track a target on passive sonar, then automatically slew the periscope onto the target for visual identification, or vice versa.

Sonar Suite: The Project 710 class submarine features a full sonar suite, complete with both active and passive modes. This suite is built around the most advanced sonar technology available to Aridistan(small sonars)! Both modes are capable of tracking targets, both modes are capable of calculating target coordinates.

The active sonar has a maximum search range of 20km, and a minimum tracking distance of 100m. As the range increases, the time it takes for the target to return information also increases. At maximum range, the active sonar will take 27 seconds to receive updates. It is capable of reliably tracking targets moving at up to 35 knots, though can get confused with multiple contacts clustered together.

High-Frequency Sonar: When analyzing operational losses, the Aridistani Admiralty realized that the majority of submarines were lost to sea-mines. To prevent such tragedies in the future, Project 710 was equipped with a high-frequency(deprecated) sonar setup. This includes both a search and tracking sonar, intended for mine detection and/or destruction. Unexpectedly, other captains have reported that the HF sonar has been useful for detection and tracking of enemy submarines or targets that were too quiet for the main sonar. In fact, through use of the high-frequency sonar, P.710 captains have maintained a 20:1 kill ratio against whales NEATO attack submarines!

Radar Mast: Recognizing the range limitations of the main sonar, the Project 710 was designed with a powerful radar mast. Able to search and track targets up to 20km away, the radar mast has proved itself a useful asset in engaging surface targets. Additionally, the good Y field of few allows for early detection of ASW aircraft and helicopters.

Periscope: Whereas previous generations of Aridistani periscopes were little more than a mirror on a stick, the Project 710 features one more akin to a powerful targeting pod. It features many useful features, like built-in radar tracking, GPS positional track, sight stabilization, and more. Coupled with the ability to slew to both navigation waypoints and the current FCS target, it’s become one of the most popular sensors with crews.

Additional Systems:
Radio & Electronic Warfare Station: Project 710 features both a radio and an electronic warfare system. The radio system enables long range voice communication, and can be patched into the seat intercom system. When patched in, talking via any of the main station seats will also transmit via radio, which is very useful for when talking on the radio while operating another station.

The electronic warfare system allows you to home in on targets transmitting by way of radio direction finder. You can find them using the onboard frequency scanner, which can scan 600 frequencies per second and stores up to 8 temporarily. If you want to examine one for longer, you can store it permanently(or until you choose to store another).

Navigation: The navigational station allows you to easily plot a multi-waypoint course, as well as display other pieces of information. Additionally, you are able to broadcast your location via the RadioNav system attached to it. By default, the settings are configured to work with the Wrasse minisub(make sure to turn encryption on when transmitting to the Wrasse), though you can change these. Use the select tool and look for one of the microcontrollers under the map monitor to do this.

Damage Control: The damage control station has 4 primary functions. It indicates the flooding levels of compartments, displays detected hull damage, outputs microcontroller error codes, and warns of severe faults. The microcontroller error codes indicate potential faults for logic components that can occur when taking damage. They range from master-caution warnings to severe warnings that alert you if the boat is in serious danger. Nova - For being an incredible guide to all things decoration, and for coming up the incredible paint scheme.

Mongoose - For letting me shamelessly steal your bed and curtain design, and for all the knowledge and wisdom on submarines that you've shared with me.

Lima - For helping someone that knew 0 Lua learn enough to get started, setting me on the path to creating stuff I never would have thought I could make before this project.

And that's a wrap! Almost 2 years, 2800 hours of playtime, and 100+ lua scripts in pursuit of realizing my dream of an Aridistani SSN. I don't have many characters left for this description, so I'll end it with this: Leave a comment if you have questions, and thanks!

you think this sub could be compatible to integrate with AI? (its a perfect sub for "sub v sub" and "sub hunt" scenarios

@huszm I'm gonna be honest, if you weren't willing or able to read the "!" signs in either the crew compartment/control room, or look inside the damage control lockers at the back, then this probably isn't the submarine for you.

dont get it it doesnt have a single welding torch

Suggestion: Add more gear for the crew such as vielding tourches and diving suits
