Bocken brinner!

Welcome to Gävle!
(Pronounced “Yeah-vleh”)



Set in the real-life Swedish town of Gävle, this 2-stage hybrid map is all about tradition… Red has hijacked the town’s annual festivities to smuggle spy tech, while Blu is determined to ruin their plans—and blend in as just another rowdy reveler.



Gävle’s most famous official tradition? Erectin’ a giant straw Yule Goat, while the more mischievous members of the town have an unofficial tradition of burning it to the ground, of course. Naturally, we thought, this would make a great TF2 map.


Gävlebocken!

Stage 1 kicks off as a classic 2-point Control Point map through the industrial area of the town. Once that’s captured, the action switches to a 3-point Payload map, where you’ll leave the industrial district and push the cart through residential streets and, if you’re lucky, maybe get to take part in burning the goat down yourself.





The map is currently in beta and is not 100% detail finished, but we’re close! The finale will be much more spectacular here soon, and we’ve got a pile of custom assets we’re looking to dot around the map. There are some rough spots, but we will be continuing development to polish it up! Your feedback is essential to the progression of this map, so if you see anything off, be sure to hit the team up about it!

Bocken har bränts upp 30 gånger och även förstörts på andra sätt, bland annat genom att slås sönder eller bli påkörd. Att på något sätt sabotera eller bränna ner bocken är olagligt. Hovrätten fastställde 2018 att det klassas som grov skadegörelse, vilket motsvarar tre månaders fängelse. Traditionen att sätta upp bocken upprätthålls av Gävle kommun och Gävle centrumsamverkan. Åren 1966–1970 organiserades bockbygget av Söders Köpmän, men efter flera bränder lades projektet ned. Då tog Naturvetenskapliga föreningen på Vasaskolan över initiativet och byggde bockar i olika storlekar under flera år. 1986 återupptog Söders Köpmän traditionen varför det under flera år byggdes två bockar, en stor organiserad av Söders Köpmän och en liten, organiserad av Vasaskolan. Gävlebocken nämns i Guinness rekordbok som världens största halmbock

Gävlebocken är en stor julbock av halm som sedan 1966 varje år sätts upp i Gävle. Från början stod den på Slottstorget, och sedan 2022 på Rådhusesplanaden strax norr om Rådhustorget. Den sätts upp inför första söndagen i advent. Under de flesta år har den olovligen bränts ned. Under de 56 åren som bocken ställts upp (2022) har den 19 gånger stått kvar mer eller mindre oskadd. Den längsta perioden bocken fått stå orörd är fyra år, åren 2017-2020.

2 things, one just so you know it might be better to use the attack defend tag instead of control points, cp sorta means more 5cp while ad is what you have, similar to dustbowl. 2 i would love to see a non christmas version for all year round, maybe with a frontline theme (i know the project is kinda dead but i still love the assets and design and it would work well in gälve, like make the 1st stage sewers deeper and have water mines, and even make the final point of 2nd stage a mortar which blu push a plug into it to save their blimp from being shot down)
