SAR U12B 2-Pack

Description
I made something

here is history ig

In June and July 1958, the South African Railways placed forty-five General Electric U12Bs in service, being the first diesels to enter road service in quantity. The units were classified 1-DE and numbered D700 to D744, however in 1959 the numbering system changed and they were reclassified as 31-000 class locomotives and numbered 31-001 to 31-045. First placed in service at Germiston in the South African province of Gauteng, they were used in switching but by 1959 had been put in road service.

The units lasted until the early 1990s on SAR. While they don't operate with Spoornet (successor of SAR), they have seen service in private hands with leasing companies like Sheltam. Two locomotives have been preserved as of 2024, being 31-007 and 31-028, stored at the Bloemfontein Locomotive Depot and Bellville Loco Depot respectively.

Ah, finally some SA rep in Rolling Line! I honestly love the classic Gulf Red; it looked particularly good on the 6e1 electrics.
