In November 1985 HMAS Canberra (FFG-02) was tasked to intercept and shadow the Kirov class cruiser Frunze as it passed through the South China Sea to Viet Nam. In this scenario, Kirov detected HMAS Orion (S-61) which was also shadowing the group, and attacked the submarine. Now Canberra and an AP-3C scrambled from RMAF Butterworth are in for the fight of their lives.
