enjoy.

Date: September 21, 1991
Location: Coral Sea, Southwest Pacific Ocean
Classification: Top Secret
Commander: Admiral of the ANZUS Joint Fleet

To: Admiral [Your Name]
From: Pacific Command HQ

Subject: Defensive Operation Against Northern Star Coalition

Admiral,
Greetings. This communication is of utmost importance, as the fate of our alliance—and perhaps the entire Indo-Pacific region—rests upon the success of your mission.
The situation has reached a critical juncture. Following the catastrophic loss of the Philippines to the Northern Star Coalition, led by Russia and China, and the devastating blow dealt to the United States Navy (USN) in that theater, our remaining forces have been forced to regroup. The remnants of the US Pacific Fleet have consolidated with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN). Now, under your command, these united forces form the ANZUS Joint Fleet.
The Northern Star Coalition has made a bold move, pushing its naval might deep into the Coral Sea. Their objective is clear: to coerce Australia and New Zealand into severing their ties with the United States, thereby fracturing the ANZUS alliance. If they succeed, they will dominate critical sea lanes, isolate our forces, and cripple our ability to project power in the Pacific. The repercussions of losing this battle are unthinkable—Australia and New Zealand may be forced to reconsider their allegiance, which would mark a devastating shift in the balance of power across the Indo-Pacific.
Admiral, failure is not an option. The survival of the ANZUS alliance hinges on your ability to hold the line.
Mission Objectives:
Defend Australian and New Zealand Territorial Waters
Prevent any Northern Star Coalition vessels from breaching our defensive perimeter in the Coral Sea. Your task is to secure the maritime approaches to Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland.
Destroy or Disable Enemy Fleet Assets
The enemy has deployed a powerful task force, including advanced surface combatants and stealth submarines. You are authorized to intercept and neutralize these threats before they can strike at our positions.
Maintain Coalition Morale and Unity
The political and strategic ramifications of this engagement cannot be overstated. A decisive victory will bolster our resolve and send a clear message: the ANZUS alliance stands united, unbroken, and ready to defend its interests. Failure could lead to a cascade of political defeats.
Operational Assets Available:
ANZUS Joint Carrier Strike Group, as well as a small group of patrol boats and Yankee class submarine
Rules of Engagement (ROE):
Weapons free on confirmed hostile targets.
Minimize collateral damage to protect regional allies.
Exercise caution: Reports indicate high civilian maritime traffic and civilian airliners in the vicinity. Confirm target identities before engagement.
Final Note:
Admiral, the eyes of the world are upon you. The Northern Star Coalition is determined to fracture our alliances and dominate the Pacific, but you have the power to turn the tide. The outcome of this battle will resonate far beyond the waves of the Coral Sea; it will be a signal to friend and foe alike that the ANZUS alliance will not bow to pressure.
You are the bulwark against a tide of tyranny. Stand firm, hold the line, and deliver a victory that will echo through history. The fate of Australia, New Zealand, and the future of freedom in the Indo-Pacific rests in your hands.
Godspeed, Admiral. The world is counting on you.
