The Sinking of the INS Eliat

Description
October 21st, 1967
During the aftermath of the Six-Day War, the Israeli destroyer INS Eilat was sailing towards the Suez Canal when two Egyptian Komar-class missile boats patrolling the coast near Port Said engaged it. Armed with the P-15 Termit (Styx) anti-ship missiles, the 61-ton missile boats launched a decisive attack on the 1,700-ton warship, sinking a combatant almost 30x heavier without resistance. This event marked a pivotal paradigm shift: The entrance of naval warfare into the missile age. Where smaller, missile-armed vessels could effortlessly destroy much larger, conventional warships with precision weaponry. This was the first use of a guided missile in Ship-to-Ship Naval Combat. After this event, October 21st became the official day of the Egyptian Navy.
