Disabled Stadimeter

Description
Completely disables the stadimeter, as it was not historically present.

Savegame compatible. Uninstalls clean.

Advanced users can edit the source to enable stadimeter for the attack periscope only. This setting is experimental and has issues that will not be supported.

Ah fun fact, in vanilla, the third zoom level is currently actually 9.6x the magnification of the first level of zoom. Camera FOV's of 2.5 and 24, respectively.

The simpler way is to just use the miliradians in the normal periscope.
There is a factor K that is 1700 for .6x and 17000 for 6x

distance = (ship mast from the recognition catalogue * K ) / miliradians

Looking at the 33.34 mast tanker on the 6x zoom and that ends up being 150 miliradians

33.34 * 17000 / 150 = 3.8km

It's accurate that you can use it together with bearing to plot, to get the 3m15s speed.

From 47:00 you can see this method used directly to do a perfect solution

The video is unlisted and i'm not a youtuber, there should be no ads, i get nothing out of any of you watching this.

I'm using HARDscope mod with degrees in the vertical scale, but it isn't the principal thing. You can even measure it in parrots)) It is important to know the practical values of the scale and for me they are:

mod HARD
x0.6 = 0.3° = 5.23 mils = 0.0052 radian
x1.5 = 0.1° = 1.74 mils = 0.00174 radian
x6 = 0.03° (0.031) or ~ 0,5 mils = 0.52 mils = 0.00052 radian

For instance:
The distance, measured by the vanilla Stadimeter is 466 m

The mast height of the target ship is 21.7 m
The periscope angle is 2.7° (9 vertical scale divisions * 0.3° = 2.7° in x0.6 magnification)
tg(2.7°) = 0.0471588028774805 or `0.047
21.7 m/0.047 = 461 m

Using angle mils (milliradians) is even easier:
distance (kilometers) = target height (meters) / angular target height (angular mils)

In mils:
9*5.23 = 47 mils
21.7 m/47 = 0.461 km = 461 m

I'm using Attack Disk mod for the calculations, it's fast and easy

Where you see those angles?

I'm using Attack Disc mod and a table of tangents of small angles. The distance is equal to dividing the height of the mast in meters on the Y scale by the corresponding tangent value on the Z scale, for example 21.7 m (2170) divided by 15.7 (tan = 0.0157) and the result is 1450 m, which is quite accurate. (1455 by stadimeter)

maybe we need raobf or other tools to calculate
DarkRaven  [author] 20 Nov, 2024 @ 11:06am
@BobbySopor Already exists for 2024.1.

good to know, but what about the attack disc? cant live without that :D
