Description
2 November, 1990. The Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, led by Colonel Muammar Gaddafi with covert support from Tunisia, has launched an invasion of Lampedusa, a small Italian island in the central Mediterranean, and has begun amassing forces to invade Malta. Gaddafi's motivations include asserting regional power, capitalizing on Libya's proximity to these islands, and distracting from domestic instability and economic challenges. The invasion comes at an inopportune time as Italy has become embroiled in political scandal, this has weakened it's military response capabilities. This move poses a direct threat to NATO’s southern flank and vital Mediterranean shipping lanes, leading to a swift military response from N.A.T.O. to prevent further escalation. A Carrier Strike Group led by the U.S.S. Nimitz (CVN-68) has been sent to liberate Lampedusa, stop an invasion of Malta, and ensure continued Freedom of Navigation (FoN) in the Mediterranean.

Let's keep it 90s themed; this mission's song is Sick of You - GWAR.

[Version 2

Fixed SA-10 Sites - SA-10 Flaplid put inside TEL groups caused them not to work.

Changed F1As to the more capable F1Es.

Moved all aircraft to improve battle flow.

Moved Grisha, enabled active sonar from mission start. - hopefully cause more stress on that sub crew.

Moved Don submarine tender - context clue reasons.

Fixed Teleport Triggers not functioning correctly - should now properly teleport enemy units into area. Simply brute forced the editor into saving my commands, only took 50 tries.

Fixed Intel Message Trigger not functioning correctly? 50/50 on if that is gonna pop up.]

Please let me know if any bugs are found with regards to the mission itself. Thanks for playing.

One of my favorite missions that I've played so far but definitely the best mission in terms of atmosphere and story. The entire mission feels so well laid out, and I never did find that pesky sub!

@GoopActual I've literally been searching for the cause in my own games. I'm having Harpoons suddenly do a 180 and fly the other direction, among other crazy behavior. All missing the target. I'm talking 64 missiles in one game is the level of testing I've done. It's not enemy jamming either. I'm assuming it's the last update because it's happening on my current builds and without mods.

Appreciate you trying it out. Will be doing an overhaul soon on this map,so hopefully the missiles will be sorted by then.

Think the last update borked Harpoons or maybe the white sands mod gives the Soviet CIWS roids, just played through and out of 48 harpoons fired not a single one got through to the missile boats. Either intercepted or just flat out missed their targets. Ended up just rage quitting. I'll try again later

Thanks for playing. Glad to hear it wasn't too easy.

I took some liberty adding things like the AWACS, air defense types, and a few ships like the Don and Rogovs; for the most part though, it's Libyan assets.

What of theirs was actually operational or still around in '90? Beats me.

That was harder than I thought! I lost a Tico before I could take out all the missile boats.

Did the Libyan Navy really had all that stuff in 1990?
