Operation Krasnyy Shchit (Red Shield)

Description
NOTE: Due to performance issues this light version only includes the navel SAG and southern Iran operational zone. This is still a difficult mission, and has a few stages to accomplish. Will release full mission when performance issues no longer occur. Recommend to read the brief. As it stands with Light version major objectives for victory are the destruction of the Bandar Abbas air base, and landing operations being completed in Bandar Abbas. Good luck.

Mission Briefing: Operation Krasnyy Shchit
Date: March 16th, 1987
From: Admiral Ivan Sergeyevich Voronov, Commander of the Red Banner Northern Fleet
To: Captain Viktor Mikhailovich Zaitsev and the Commanding Officers of the Surface Action Group

Comrades,

You have been entrusted with a mission of paramount importance to the Soviet Union and to the stability of the global order. Under the codename Operation Krasnyy Shchit, you are to project Soviet strength in the Gulf region, protect the free movement of naval shipping, and strike decisively against forces that seek to destabilize peace and commerce in these vital waters.

Primary Objectives:

Cripple Iranian Naval Assets: Neutralize Iran's fast attack craft, destroy naval vessels posing threats, and ensure Soviet supremacy in the operational area.

Disable Iranian Airfields and Military Infrastructure: Employ our available resources, including support from the 879th Heavy Bomber Regiment, to disable critical airfields and military facilities in Tehran and Bandar Abbas. These strikes will weaken Iran's capacity for retaliation.

Coordinate with Iraqi Forces: Utilize the cooperation and intelligence provided by our Iraqi allies to enhance operational efficiency and achieve maximum effect against Iranian forces.

Conduct a Joint Landing at Bandar Abbas Port: Deploy Iraqi forces supported by Soviet Special Forces to secure and neutralize underground ammunition complexes and critical infrastructure within the Bandar Abbas Port area. Both landing ships in the group will be required for this operation. The expected operation timeline is two hours. The landing must achieve decisive results with precision and efficiency.

Assure the Safety of Support Ships and Landing Craft: Ensure that all support vessels and landing craft remain undamaged throughout the operation. This is critical for the continued success of our mission and subsequent withdrawal.

Assure the Safety of Naval Shipping: Protect international and Soviet-aligned shipping lanes from interference. Shipping must continue without obstruction.

Avoid Engagement with American Forces: Under no circumstances are you to provoke or engage with U.S. military assets. Maintain vigilance and discipline to avoid unnecessary escalation.

Operational Considerations:

Be prepared to counter swift and unconventional attacks from Iranian fast attack craft. Maintain formation discipline and enforce layered defense tactics.

Coordinate closely with Iraqi forces during the Bandar Abbas landing to ensure effective support and seamless execution. Soviet Special Forces will provide operational expertise and lead critical objectives.
The submarine asset assigned to your group will provide intelligence and strategic strikes where necessary. Ensure close coordination with its command.

The 879th Heavy Bomber Regiment stands ready to deliver long-range strikes on designated targets. Tasking orders will follow.

Mission Statement:

Operation Krasnyy Shchit represents the resolve and strength of the Soviet Union. Our mission is to eliminate threats to global stability, ensure uninterrupted navigation in critical waterways, and demonstrate the capability and unity of Soviet forces. By protecting Soviet and international interests, we will affirm our commitment to peace and the principles of socialism. Precision, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the Motherland will guide our success.

Additional Orders:

Further instructions will be provided as intelligence develops and mission phases progress. Remain in constant communication with higher command, and ensure discipline among all personnel under your leadership.

For the Motherland, for the Revolution!

Admiral Ivan Sergeyevich Voronov
Commander, Red Banner Northern Fleet
