Soviet Landing at Mogadisho

This semi-historical mission is inspired by real events that take place more than 40 years ago... On November 13, 1977, Somali President Siad Barre announced the termination of the Soviet-Somali treaty of July 11, 1974. Two thousand Soviet specialists and their family members, about 5,000 citizens of USSR, had to leave the country by November 20. In addition, the Somali leadership stated that all Soviet property located on the territory of the republic would be confiscated.

Lights and water were turned off in the houses where Soviet families lived, and they were besieged by angry crowds of local residents who shouted insults and threw stones at them. At the airport, Soviet specialists who flew out were subjected to all kinds of humiliation and bullying. Soviet planes landing at Mogadishu airport at night landed in total darkness because the Somalis turned off the lighting on the runways.

On the last day of the Somali ultimatum, November 20, a Soviet squadron of the Pacific Fleet arrived at the port of Magadisho. The squadron commander, Rear Admiral Mikhail Chronopulo, ordered the Marines to be landed in the Somali capital to protect Soviet citizens and ensure the unhindered evacuation of Soviet property.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
To bring the landing ship to shore, ensuring the landing of marines who will be able to secure the area and help load personnel and their families on board the BDK.
If a landing party or Soviet citizens are threatened, the use of weapons is allowed without restrictions.

INTELLIGENCE REPORT:
Our intelligence suggests that the Somalis may go on a provocation by attacking our flotilla. Several ships have left the nearest pt boat base, and a pair of mig-21s were spotted in the air several dozen nautical miles northeast of you. Among other things there is a possibility of usage land-based anti-ship missiles.

OPERATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Detect any threat and destroy it.
