I have no solution to this issue as I don't think you can manipulate the camera other then turning your fov up or your viewmodels fov up. If I did it would likely be out of my knowledge as I am unsure of Sources engine code and whatnot. If you still want to play like this you can! But you also could try and turn your viewmodels fov up in the console like this "viewmodel_fov", followed by your desired number.
