EMD GP38/40-2 Three Pack!

Description
After 3 months of procrastination, Forest Puppy & Trash Panda present the GP38-2/GP40-2 three pack, with two base EMD models, and the CN Exclusive GP40-2LW. These models are based off of EMVLYN's SD40-2 mod.

Prototype history:
In 1972, the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors would upgrade its electronics in its 645 line offerings, units such as the GP38, GP40, and SD40, would be re-designated with a -2 at the end. Included in this new -2 line was various external differences, electronics, and new specs and phase specific additions. The GP38-2, GP40-2, and other units offered in the line would become quite popular, with many still in service today. The GP38-2 is a roots blown locomotive equipped with the popular 16-645 prime mover, these units general 2000 HP.

The GP40-2 is a turbocharged locomotive, using the same 16-645 prime mover as the GP38-2, however, the turbocharger provides an extra 1000 HP, leveling out to 3000 HP. Some GP40-2s have been downgraded to GP38-2s internally as they have been pushed into local and yard service and no longer need the extra 1000 HP and the maintenance that comes with the turbocharger.

The GP40-2LW is also included in this pack, of course being a variant of the GP40-2 built exclusively for Canadian National Railways, these units were built in 1974 and 1975, and feature CN's own comfort cab design, and a lightweight frame, if you were to stand trackside in Canada or on the GTW, you could see these pulling various trains, including CN's "Laser" intermodal trains, where they favored for their quick acceleration on account of the weight reduction. Some of these units have been sold off, but CN still operates a decent amount.

Of course all of these have proper sounds, there may be some slight inaccuracies but to my knowledge they shouldn't take away from the experience, I hope we've brought an excellent product.

EMVLYN: Base SD40-2, Widecab variant.
Nadiya: GP40-2LW
R3ading: GP38-2, GP40-2 base.

I think you are confusing the GP40-2LWs for the GP40-2Ws, which GO did roster. The difference isn't big, just in frame height and weight. The GP40-2L (the W actually was never designated by GMDD and was just a railfan thing that caught on) was built only for CN, the reason why we chose the GP40-2LW is CN ordered more than they did standard GP40-2Ws.

small correction, a few GP40-2LW units were also built for GO Transit, the GO units would then be sold to CN after around 20 years in GO service

@Nady there technically isn't livery perms due to this being a Train Mod Livery, not that important though since it can still be duplicated

Also this is fire

huh, weird, the liveries premission is set to allowed, I don't know what could be causing that
Onatic 24 Nov, 2024 @ 3:42pm
Can't create liveries but it will only let me duplicate, amazing models though!
