JGR/JNR WaMu 21000 and 1920-30s covreed/open wagons

Includes the Wamu 21000, which was introduced in 1929, as well as other covered and open wagons introduced by the Japanese Goverment Railways (JGR) in the late 1920s. the Wamu 21000, a 15-ton loaded covered car; the Wa 20000, a 10-ton loaded open wagon; the ToRa 1, a 17-ton loaded open wagon; and the To 20000, a 10-ton loaded steel open wagon, and To 1, a wooden conversion from To 20000.

The WaMu 21000 was the standard covered wagon after the WaMu 3500 and had a steel body with outer and inner walls for insulation. The Tora 1 (formerly To 35000) was the first 17-ton load of JGR's open wagons, and was renumbered from To 35000 to Tora 1 in 1928. In 1929, the Great Depression brought in cars with smaller capacity, and the 10-ton load Wa 22000 and To 20000 were built. Of these, the To 20000 was the first open wagon of the JGR to have its entire body made of steel.

After WWII, the To 2000 was converted to a wooden cargo carrier and renunmered to a To 1. The To 1, Tora 1, and Wa 22000 disappeared in the 1970s. but the Wamu 21000 operated until the 1980s, when its maximum speed was increased to 75 km/h.

Specifications prior to the 1928 classification revision were available for purchase until 1949, after the war.The To 35000 (later Tora 1) is available for purchase from 1927 to 1949.
