Operation Nordic Express

Description
Operation Nordic Express: A Turning Point in the Cold War

The year is 1989, and the Cold War has reached the frigid waters of the North Atlantic. Following the surprise Soviet invasion of Iceland earlier this year, NATO finds itself in a desperate struggle to regain control of this vital island nation. The occupation has tightened the Warsaw Pact’s grip on the GIUK Gap, a critical choke point for maritime traffic and air operations between Europe and North America.

Codenamed Operation Nordic Express, this bold counteroffensive seeks to liberate Iceland from Soviet forces and restore NATO’s dominance in the North Atlantic. Leading the charge are NATO’s combined naval and amphibious forces, with the U.S. 2nd Fleet spearheading the operation. Two carrier strike groups, reinforced by an amphibious assault group and logistical support elements, are tasked with neutralizing Soviet ground defenses and air power, paving the way for a full-scale liberation effort.

On the Soviet side, the operation represents a high-stakes gamble to hold Iceland and deny NATO a crucial strategic position. The occupation is bolstered by elite units, including the 61st and 336th Naval Infantry Brigades, supported by formidable air defense systems and the Northern Fleet’s quick-reaction naval forces. Despite these defenses, NATO's operational advantage lies in the element of surprise, with intelligence pointing to gaps in the Soviet IADS and logistical strain within their forces.

As NATO forces close in, the world watches anxiously. Victory in Iceland would shift the balance of power in the Atlantic and strike a critical blow against Soviet ambitions. Failure would embolden Moscow and threaten the very foundations of NATO's Atlantic strategy.

The stakes could not be higher. Prepare for combat, adapt to the unexpected, and secure victory for the free world.

also, I'm not sure how to make briefings yet, so the mission briefing is on my discord: https://discord.gg/NAgWTYCY

Hey guys! this is my first time making a mission on Sea Power so hope y'all enjoy it!

Just a reminder to use the mods I put on "required items" so the mission can function properly.

I also had to repost this mission since I'm new to mission-making, I had made a mistake and the mission wasn't showing up on people's mod manager, but this time I tested it and its working, so enjoy!
