Description

A 170-block fighter drone for Multiverse.
⨴ It's container-launched - just turn on the engine and it'll automatically fling itself into the air.
⨴ See the screenshot reel for HUD labels.

The Merlin II was developed to stem the resource drain caused by attrition of existing drones. Aggressively optimised to take advantage of NS' fully automated mass-production systems, it's lightweight and cheap, and lacks even landing gear. It was deployed en-masse either via reentry shells from orbit or launch rails on the ground, and recovered after battle via parachute (if it survived that long).

Hundreds of reentry trails entering atmosphere became common sights across the Spiral, signifying the deployment of these vehicles in desperate attempts to hold the line. Records of the time describe the sight as hauntingly beautiful - the final sparks upon the pyre of a once-great nation.

I've started joining Multiverse sessions lately, and all of my existing fighters were woefully inadequate (big surprise). So I built this plane. It's hilariously unfair to fight, but when you have to deal with 250 ping and additional built-in Multiverse lag you need every advantage you can get.

This machine flies dead straight even firing the three 15x autocannons, turns on a dime, and has no slop thanks to rope gyros and more intentional aerodynamic design. The pilot camera also features a rudimentary block HUD for when the Ace Combat HUD mod isn't available, which is labeled in the screenshot reel.

Clearers are area superiority craft.
They are often deployed in swarms to uproot enemy forces by drowning them in a sea of metal and fire. Each individual unit is treated as a missile with a gun - they are just as maneuverable, just as lethal, and just as expendable.
