Gustavo & Brick

Description
Gustavo & Brick (the Rat)

It's the Gustavo & Brick Hour! Team up as this dynamic duo from Pizza Tower with a slew of attacks that utilize both their strengths and a stance change gimmick that tests their teamwork.

Gimmick: Mount & Dismount
There are multiple methods that Gustavo can use to get off and back on Brick, some of which having their own benefits and drawbacks. Down Air will instantly dismount him, and dash attack will instantly bring Brick back no matter what. Specials that utilize Brick can't be used again until he's in idle (reading the newspaper).

When alone, Gustavo has faster ground movement and airdodges, five normal attacks (three of which can be used anywhere anytime), and a shorter hurtbox during NSpecial. The aim of their gimmick is to find a balance and synergy between these two stances, as they each have their advantages and disadvantages.

Special Moves

Neutral Special: Mach Run
A staple of Pizza Tower's gameplay. Gustavo will either get on top of Brick and roll him like a ball or put his fist up and begin charging at mach speed. During this attack, they may jump to reach other players and hop onto platforms, whereas the shorthop button can be pressed to make a shorter jump. They can use any attack, strong, or special out of the move, and they can even double jump or wall jump out of it too.

Additionally, the move will have a brief lasting effect called Mach Mode that can allow them to use another attack should one hit, sort of like a built in turbo mode. This is indicated by a red and green trail that appears behind them, and Down Air can also apply this effect (albeit for a shorter duration).

Forward Special: Double Cheese Lariat
Gustavo will dismount Brick (should he be riding him) and lunge forth with a powerful lariat spin. The attack will pop anyone it hits upwards, and he can jump out of it on hit to follow up with other attacks. Mach Mode will make him travel a bit farther during the move.

Down Special: Brick Kick / Homing Brick
If on Brick, Gustavo will roll Brick into a ball and kick him forward. If in the air, he'll kick him in an arc, and if Mach Mode is active, he'll kick him in a higher arc no matter where he is. Nevertheless, if Brick hits anyone, he'll bounce back and go into idle when he lands. If he rolls offstage, he'll reappear on the center of the stage in idle.

If Brick is idle, then Gustavo can call him back by using down special again. He'll take out a piece of cheese, which will cause Brick to ball up and fly back towards the chef, hurting anyone in his way. If Gus is hurt or KO'd in the process, Brick will fall down and return to idle wherever he lands. Once Brick touches Gustavo, they'll reunite and return to an idle state, and using down special while directly in front of Brick will do this automatically.

Up Special: Super Stomp
This move will call Brick back to Gustavo no matter what, and can only be used if Brick is in idle. Gustavo and Brick will both roll up into balls and jump upwards before stomping back downwards with immense speed and force. The downfall will lightly knock anyone in the way down, and the landing will pop opponents upward. If Mach Mode is active, they'll jump much higher, and the startup will have a strong hitbox that can even KO at high enough percents.

Developer Tips
- Gustavo can be knocked around easier when off of Brick, so be careful when dismounted.
- The longer the move is charged, the higher Gustavo will shoot Brick with Up Strong. With Mach Mode, he'll automatically shoot him to full height (but the melee hitbox's damage will still depend on your charge).
- Down Tilt pops up opponents from either side of Gustavo, making it good to combo into either back or forward aerials.
- Down Air will make Brick drop in a non idle state, briefly leaving him with very limited recovery if the move is used offstage.

Brick is such a cute nod to one of the most underrated Kirby characters.
