Puerto Dorado -- Inhabited

Description
Welcome to Puerto Dorado People's Republic, comrades!

With some Soviet support our recent revolutionary struggles came to a glorious end - the island is ours!
Only half of it, to be exact, but this is just the beggining. The poorer half too, and it has a secret soviet coastal base on it now.
Nevertheless, we will stop at nothing to make our small republic a true workers paradise, and we will show those bourgeoisie on the eastern half of the island what a terrible mistake they have made!
Down with western colonialism!

It is only a matter of time until PDPR dwarfs the eastern half and their US funded highways, and YOU will be responsible for this success!

Puerto Dorado is a mostly mountainous carribean island, with a flatter southern area, and beautiful corral reafs just off of its' northern coast.
Mountains provide plenty mining opportunity, though oil is rather scarce. In the past this half of the island mostly revolved around it's gold mine, which,
unfortunately, ran dry sometime in the 1890s and the local economy has not picked up since. The climate is perfect for rich plantations of exotic crops,
which the NATO half now greatly exploits now thanks to an influx of western money. The western end of the island is barred from your access, as the Soviets have established
a large port and military presence for yet unknown reasons. You are not to interfere.

A fully vanilla, fictional carribean inspired map for the Biomes DLC.
I take feedback.

Hi, sorry, but unfortunately I have no plans to make the borders less square at the moment. I did not plan this map with that in mind and I think it doesn't detract much from it.

I have, however, good news for you. If it is personally a deal breaker for you, it only takes a couple minutes to edit the borders to your liking by loading the map into the terrain editor :presidente:

Feel free to edit it further to your liking and even publish the edit if you so desire. I only ask for a link to the original.
I appreciate such maps, but by any chance can you update the borders so that they are not just 1 big square? It's something that really bothers me with the maps, no offense to those who do not know how, but it's just very weird.

Thought you should know this is 100% my favorite south american themed map thus far, huge props

Yeah, I think this map peak is too. You deserve more rewards. Yeah I was really disapointed too with jungle biomes and the missed opportunity with caribean/latin american, although what they cover also makes sense with Asian communist countries, but why not both? Your map saved workers and resources for me because of this. I`m playing my first realistic map with it. Thanks a lot for that!

The topology of the map is hard to me, I don't do well building on hilly land, and I like to have space. I thought it was a bit constraining, and that it could be flatter between the foot of the mountains and the sea. But I like the mountains and the sea because they make more realistic and natural the construction of the city and spaces.

I will be waiting for a south american river delta map, because I`m from here lol, and If you are willing to update the map a bit.

@szlongster I'm extremely glad you enjoy the map. I definitely plan on improving on some aspects in my next map (Which I will make, eventually! I personally only really like high quality, thought through high effort maps.). How did you like the topology, not too constraining with the hillyness?

About the siberian biome, I would need to find an idea I really vibe with. This map was the result of my severe disappointment with the jungle biomes dlc and community completely skipping the carribean/latin american region, which is just dripping with character.
Before I get on that I will probably attempt a more south american river delta type map.

this map is peak, if you ever felt like making new maps i'd say there currently aren't many good ones for the siberian biome
