Saint Lirael

This Character is an entry for Smack Works Character Jam 5.

Saint Lirael is a "Bait & Switch" Rapier styled Duelist. Normal attacks consist of bashing opponents with the sheathe, thin cuts, and plenty of stabbing. Most grounded attacks have a Sheathing animation that may leave Lirael open, but can be dodge canceled by pressing shield or attack canceled by pressing attack. Most of Lirael's Normals work as simple combo starters, good "get off me" options, and a very generous range for a Swordie. However some attacks have a "nick" property that lowers knockback and damage as well as a different sound effect to display a lighter attack.

The Saint's Specials consist of various Lightning Techniques that weave through his blade. From entering a stance to dispel small projectiles, or zipping across stage in a flash of electric bolts. The main use of Saint Lirael's special kit is to provide a vast toolset of risky and rewarding maneuvers to keep your enemies guessing. Bait them with the Thunder Draw and punish with a Thunder cut instead of the usual projectile.

Lirael also has a unique Dodge mechanic that works similar to Bayonetta's "Witch Time" that acts as an auto counter rather than stunning opponents. Spot Dodge is left unchanged.

Speaking of Counters, Lirael's Ultra is a Counter Super that will only activate if another player's attack strikes him. The timing is very generous for how long the window is open but you still need to bait a player into aggression.
