Description
With Soviet forces expelled from Dutch Harbor, the last Red Army troops in the Aleutians have dug in at Casco Cove Coast Guard Station on Attu Island.

The Soviets plan to reinforce their troops on Attu with additional ground forces as well as aircraft and helicopters. A convoy with ASW escort is expected to sail towards the island soon, however specific information about the size of this convoy and their intended path is very limited. Naval intelligence believes the Soviet Pacific Fleet has placed extra significance on this operation, either to hold the island as a bargaining chip in any future peace negotiations or to draw our forces into the range of their anti-ship missile carrying bombers.

Because of all this, three attack submarines have been relocated to the theater and have been assigned to a patrol area between Kamchatka and Attu. These boats will use the old tried and true WWII tactic, a picket line, to locate and intercept the Soviet ships. Expect Soviet naval aviation to be active and the appearance of one or more Soviet submarines is likely.

One group of US warships will be operating east of Attu. Because of poor weather our satellite photos of Attu are outdated and incomplete. Conduct air operations over the Coast Guard station and report back on the current strength of Soviet forces. Attack any Soviet assets in the area as you see fit.

Good mission, I should note the Horne is in DLG variation instead of CG variation like she should be.

An excellent scenario! It's packed with objectives and the actions required to complete them. There’s air combat, ASW operations, and strikes against ground targets. From a realism perspective, it’s also quite solid. The fact that Kiev doesn’t use its air group is a flaw of the game’s AI, not the scenario itself.

That's less than ideal. Partially why I don't put too much effort into the missions when this game is still so feature-incomplete and in flux with changes. I figured that one day I'll re-make them all once we have a full game here.

Well, the new update really fucked this mission over. The new dive attack profile that low level attacks default to causes your harriers to slam straight into the ground as they try to pull out of their dives, so you effectively have single-use planes unless you can figure out some way to get them to survive a high-altitude drop against a SAM site. Soviet defensive ECM seems to have been beefed up as well. Previously I could reliably get a Harpoon or two through to the enemy ships. Now they never get close.
