Festive season is approaching us fast, and I think it’s proper that Vanilla Expanded releases a big mod to celebrate that time. It’s been a very productive year for us, and with some festive content, we get to breathe, enjoy and celebrate this beautiful time of the year.

Vanilla Christmas Expanded is a resurrection of one of our first mods which also shared this title. The goal of the mod is very straight forward: bring festivities to your RimWorld colony. We won’t focus on celebrations of any particular culture or country, and instead plan to bring a lot of unique festive flavor from all around the world.

This mod operates in a form of an Advent calendar. This means that every day, something new will be added, and the description of the mod will be updated with a new infographic, showcasing what was added. This means that if you’re interested, you can come back to the mod description every day to see what new content will appear in your game!

The content will vary - on some days, it will be a small trinket or a decoration, on others, it will be a brand new mechanic or system. Overall, however, this should be a pretty beefy Christmas mod that brings the joy to your game, rewarding you for celebrating it with presents, high spirits and good events.



Below is the content already present in the mod, as well as little content boxes that will open on their respective days!




























We are not aware of any issues right now, but if you encounter any, please report them in the mod comments section with appropriate logs and explanations!



Q: Do I need any DLCs?
A: No. Our goal is that every day, we will release some content for all to enjoy. If that content happens to require some other mod or DLC, we will also add additional content on that day that doesn’t. Some of us are less fortunate than others, and I don’t want to penalize people who are still waiting for some DLC to arrive under their Christmas tree.

Q: Will this mod work after Christmas?
A: Yes, of course!

Q: Can I add it to an existing save?
A: You should be able to!

Q: Can I remove this mod from an ongoing save?
A: No mod is ever completely safe to remove. There will be errors etc, and they might break your save, so make sure to back it up before you try.

Q: Does the content of this mod work if I don’t use your Santa Storyteller?
A: Yes! The only thing the Santa Seasonal does is it tallies up your Festive favor (major mechanic in this mod) and turns it into presents on Decembrary 10th. If you don’t use this storyteller, you won’t get presents this way!

Q: What can I get in presents?
A: A real variety of things, depending on present quality. From building resources, through medicine, books, gold, to completely random expensive items in high quality presents. This means it can be any item, from base game or mods. Anything.

I am experiencing the same issue as Kupferbart. The fact this is the only issue I am experiencing though is amazing. Thanks for all the great mods!

Hey, wanted to report a bug on your Google Forms, but Vanilla Christmas Expanded seems to be missing. On that note, could the dropdown be sorted alphabetically? As one cannot filter the entries, it is quite difficult to find the right mod.

Nevertheless: There's a failed patch operation if both Vanilla Cooking Expanded and Vanilla Plants Expanded are enabled along VCE (VPE could not be found). Game and mods are on their latest 1.6 versions.

Hi! I have an issue where i built a snow spewer and there is a mech cluster with a snow spewer as well. I have a problem where I get the message that there is a festive cold on the map and everytime i close and reopen my snow spewer, it adds another one without removing the old message. I tried removing it with dev mode but it doesnt seem to work... Now i have 4 messages telling me there is a permanent festive cold when there should be only one (or 2 considering the mech cluster)"

Same problem with festive cold. (happened when I tried switch on 3 snowing spewers at the same time) . You need to enable dev mode, open debug action menu, find "End Map Condition", then magic happens.

possible if anyone could make a mod to have a less impactful version of what Santa Seasonal does but always regardless of story teller so I could run something like Winston Waves and have Festive favor and presents at the same time

i believe the loot pool is literally anything, but im not able to check. santa likes giving me 500-800 fertilized eggs a lot.

Are the presents meant to give you mechanoid gear you can't normally obtain?
