WW2 IJN Midget Submarine

Description
This submarine, heavily inspired by the incredibly spartan series of WW2-era Japanese Type-A Kō-hyōteki midget submarines, offers a fatter and somewhat more diesel-electric take on the concept. Its got 2 torpedoes and a similar shape, but do not consider it a replica.

"The pearl of my harbor"
- Robert, 2024

Its quick, its small (not extremely), its been fermenting in my vehicles folder for almost TWO YEARS now. Its the Vaguely Japanese Midget Sub that "you should totally release it was so cool come on". well guess what. i did. I thought this was project was lost to the gas update forever, but no i managed to finish it in one day.

SPECS

- 26ish meters long (oh my god)
- 2 (SOMEWHAT) guided torpedoes
- 18 knot underwater top speed
- Hydrophone display

OPERATION

1. Generator

Turn the main key switch and crank until it starts. Dont forget the cooling systems. It can handle full throttle for a while but not forever, a throttle of around 0.8 is more sustainable.

2. Motor

Controlled through the lever at the helm. Reverser can be found under. As with the generator, full throttle is possible but not sustainable.

3. Ballast

Valves (key switches) are labelled. you want roughly 5000 in the foreward tank and 3500 in the aft tank. This will change as torpedoes and fuel depletes.

4. Torpedoes.

The torpedoes are guided, but not very well. They dont lead, and will simply go after the loudest object in their FOV. Sometimes this will be you (use the prop brake).
The running depth of the torpedo is either at the surface, or the current depth of the sub.
The torpedo heading can be set as either the ship heading or periscope heading.

When launching a torpedo, SLOW DOWN. Things may not go well otherwise.

TORPEDO FIX DETAILS
- added some invis blocks to hopefully make the ends of the tubes smoother.
- speed based arming system. After 3 seconds of travelling above 30 knots the torpedoes will arm. no more tube explosions unless youre somehow doing 30 knots.
- fixed some depth running stuff that i hadnt noticed was broken

Launching at full speed is way more survivable. Maybe still dont though

this is sort of an old project i wanted to get released at some point. I did bring it up to some standards from how it was left for a year or so, but its not completely up to the standard of what id build nowadays. The torpedoes arent completely tested and might pull funny ♥♥♥♥, but with easier targets they do tend to hit.
As is obvious i went overboard with all the screenshots and drawings and crap. All of it is done by me and me alone because i hate myself, so i hope at least one of yous appreciates it.

If you were on cuhhub a lot in summer 2023 you might recognise this one. Not sorry.

Please leave a comment if you feel like it. Or if something doesnt work as it should. Not if its the torpedoes though im not touching those with a 10 foot pole.

definitely dont click this

CREDITS: (YAY)

Thank you Pols for helping my clueless ass with torpedo guidance those several years ago. I would NOT have figured that crap out on my own.

ZE Engine Controller because im past making my own ECUs now. sue me.

if you upload this and try to pass it off as your own im going to make cannibal corpse sound like kidz bop
