SCM Infinite Horizons is a performance-focused Stellaris mod designed for multiplayer campaigns. It reduces late-game lag, optimizes FPS, and streamlines while introducing new gameplay with features like revamped Ascension Perks, More Civics & Ethics, and a refined Taste, based on the suggestions of the SCM members. Built to honor Wooly’s Legacy, it’s your gateway to smoother, immersive galactic domination.

The Trade-Off

To achieve maximum performance, particle effects have been simplified to their core elements. While visuals are slightly toned down, the result is a significantly smoother and lag-free experience, especially in late-game scenarios.

SCM Infinite Horizons isn’t just about performance. This mod is a platform for an expanded Stellaris experience. Future updates will include:

Yes, we reduced particle fx to one single particle to reduce game lag from massive battles, the down side is that everything has one particle as it’s fx

Hey, quick question. I want to use this mod for my future Stellaris MP games, and I started a quick test game with our modlist. Is it intentional behavior that there are green boxes emitting from Quasars, or might this be a mod incompatibility?

Great mod so far! Looking forward to using it!

Save-game Compatibility
it is recommended to start a new game with the mod, the mod is compatible with old save-game but it has little effect to them, since it runs mainly on pop and job control and purging excess, which might lead to more lag when it's comes to old save-games

Also to let you know, your hotfix is causing Stellaris to crash before getting to the main menu screen.

I have tested the mod and can say that it does appear to be save game compatible, as my ongoing game is still stable. That being said, I've found this mod has its limits to improving performance. My current saved game has an empire population of 15,000 with roughly 5 planets housing 3k each. The performance gains I have experienced have been minimal in terms of population calculations. I have yet to test space combat performance. My PC setup includes an i7-14700F cpu, RTX 4090 video card, 32GB ram and a M.2 SSD. I am probably at the absolute limit of what the best hardware can run, and my game regularly freezes at the start and even in the middle of each game month. The jury is still out on how much this mod is helping, but I can tell it won't be the ultimate perfect lag-killer.

Yes, the mod benefits single-player games as well!
Its performance optimizations, such as improved AI and streamlined mechanics, enhance gameplay regardless of whether you’re playing solo or in multiplayer.

As for save game compatibility , it is technically compatible with existing saves, but I don’t recommend using it with ongoing games. The mod hasn’t been thoroughly tested for compatibility with older save files, so starting a new game is strongly advised for the best experience.
