Sequential Output Generator

Introducing the SOG 3, a 3-state sequential on/off output generator suitable for controlling lights, particle generators, and other props.

Description

A self-contained circuit board with three outputs that are switched on and off in sequence.

The duration of each On state is controlled by the delay setting on the corresponding remote trigger. The remote triggers are painted white and their locations are marked with red circles in an accompanying screenshot (for outputs 1 to 3 from top to bottom).

The generator is switched on or off either by sending a pulse to the "on/off" input or pressing the yellow on-board button.

Two operating modes are available - linear, where the generator switches itself off after one pass, and loop, where the sequential output cycles continuously. You can switch between modes at any time, including when the generator is running, either by manually throwing the switch labelled "linear loop" or sending a pulse to the "mode toggle" input.

If more than three states are required multiple generators can easily be chained together, as shown at right.

I do not require attribution if you incorporate this generator into a published layout, but if you do so please post a link in the comments so I can see it in action.

How to copy the generator to your layout

Use the Bulk move tool (Room.6). Before selecting objects you will need to make the Details (circuitry), Terrain (baseboard), and Room (labels) layers editable. You should see a "Props selected" count of at least 96.

Click Copy and then Done in the tool dialog. Close this layout and open the destination layout. Grab and position another Bulk move tool, open its dialog and click Paste. Then save, close and reload the destination layout (the wiring will not work until this has been done).

Pasting the generator into another layout does not create a dependency on this mod. Neither you nor any other user of your layout will need to be subscribed to this mod thereafter.
