Z6100

Z6100 is an SNCF EMU for suburban train around Paris Nord and could only run under 25 kV 50Hz current. They are very similar to RIB push pull cars trainset that I have already done. In the original project, only Z6100 EMU should have been purchased by SNCF in the early sixties, but the four prototype trainset Z6006 to 6009 (not included in the mod) had their motor cars delayed. SNCF decided to use the other car to create the RIB transet.
Z6100 EMU arrived in 1965. They were rather simple and underpowered, but very reliable and light. Each EMU is composed by three elements, one motor car with a cab, an intermediate car, and an another non motor with a cab. Up to three elements can be coupled together in service. There was only one traction motor, so they were very sensible to bad weather, with a lot of slipping wheel.
They are made in stainless steel so they were nicknamed as lil gray (p'tit gris in french) but also tin can (boîte de conserve) and few other by passenger. At their beginning, there were a big improvement for passenger instead of older passenger cars pulled by steam locomotive.
Three sub class exist. The first one Z6101 to 6120 was produced beetween 1965 and 1967. They had a bad suspension. The last one ran in 2003.
The second, Z6121 to 6150 was produced in 1969 and 1970. They had a pneumatic suspension far better than the previous one and few other improvements. Windows were also different which gave them a different look. Last run was in January 2013.
The third and last batch, Z6151 to 6185 was produced in 1970 and 1971. The changement are technical, with thyristor instead of graduator and some other things. Last run also in January 2013.

This mod contained 22 different Z6100, dispatched in the three sub class in the buying menu. Z6100 come across few evolution in their lifespan. For each one you will have two Z6100 of each sub subclass. You will also have four Z6100 with engine off, no power and pantograph lowered.
