[RP] Aperture Labs - Enrichment Center

Welcome to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center!

//Requirements//
Nothing else should be required. Everything should be packed into the map. The map file itself should be "cmdr_aperturelabs_v4" in the menu under "CMDR_RileySV", minus the quotation marks.

This requires Portal 1 to be mounted in order to get some elements to work! Puzzles require a Portal gun. Everything should be packed in though if you have Portal 2 mounted or Portal 2 content, there could be some conflicts as Portal 1 and 2 have some objects and textures with the same names.

//Gameplay//
  • A merge of about 6 different Portal 1 and Portal 2 maps
  • A merge of the Portal 1 and Portal 2 artstyle
  • 5 different puzzles, with four from Portal 1 and one original one. All puzzles work and can be repeated!
  • Expansive office and backrooms network including: enterable meeting room, GLaDOS chamber, turret hall, and slime tunnel
  • Several of the observation rooms looking into the test chambers can be entered
  • Three teleport destinations: One into one of the corporate areas, one to the beginning of the test subject waiting room, and one in the slime tunnels (Employee, Test Subject, Escapee)
  • Nodegraph/AI nodes and navmesh for NPCs

While in the Gmod Sandbox mode, any dead bodies, blood stains, activated map scripts or other changes can be cleaned/reset using this: Pressing Q -> Utilities -> Admin -> Cleanup -> Cleanup Everything

//Development//
This is a combination of ideas I've had floating around: What would the Enrichment Center look like with the maps that connect to GLaDOS' chamber look like and what would the Portal 1 look like in Portal 2's artstyle?

While I originally started with the first I eventually worked my way into the second, slowly changing textures and props. It also turned out that some props and textures in Portal 1 work great as is in Portal 2's style

Similarly to some of the City 17 maps, the original maps of Portal 1 and 2 have some conflicting geography. As such some stuff had to be moved or adjusted. I think though it flows very well in this form. Some of this moved geometry also did allow me to added some original spaces too. I did want to add more, but the complexity of the puzzles scripting wise, and gameplay considerations made me scale it back a bit.

there is some problemo's i have encountered during my play in this map. *also i do have portal 1-2 installed so i have no idea why it bugs out* 1. missing textures leading to me being able to see outside of the map./ 2. the pellet ball is just a missing texture icon./ 3. the turrets and the doors are invisible. *the simple doors*. and there is a ton more of shit i do cant fit in my problem list.

Suddenly the map doesn't work. i played it at release but today i try again and the game crashes after lua starts.

Nice mod! However.. one small issue.

WARNING! STFU! Or you will die, even if you don't shut up! Clarissa isnt freaking real. Snap back to reality. hopefully, if you copy and paste this comment and spam it in 10 comments in the next 10 minutes, we can hopefully stop these stupid comments. TIC TOC

wait ~5 minutes for it to load
look to the left and crash immediately
rinse repeat.
Your map is broken. If I leave the spawn room, either via the teleport triggers or noclip, it crashes.
Sucks because this looks like a fun map to explore.

this map feels a bit broken

The first chamber has a misplaced fizzler
The energy pellet intro sometimes has no lift
The reflections sometimes glitch out and the cubemaps don't work
