Chi Ni I

History

The Chi Ni, a medium tank introduced in 1941 was a rather large vehicle for its time. It was designed in advance to the Attack on the US mainland as a large medium tank with enough equipment to fight for a reasonably long time.
It was rather expensive to produce, but well worth it. A long barrel 75mm gun with decent anti armour and anti infantry capability was a very successful weapon for its time. It could easily kill any of the early Shermans frontally even from higher ranges.
In the first few months it proved to be a bit unreliable due to the Final drives being made of less quality material.
With the arrival of more heavy tanks in 1943 the Chi Ni I is getting more and more outclassed in frontline combat. And The M4A3 and higher (up gunned) Shermans have an easier time taking them out. In 1944 they get taken out of frontline combat in favour of the successor vehicle, Chi Ni II!

About the Project
The Pacific Front is a Alternate History Project about the time from 1940s through to the 70s in a time of turmoil, war and desperation. It focuses on the countries around the pacific ocean, like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Russia, China and a lot more. All the the project vehicles are fictional in nature and have their own story, lore and design. The Projects creations have a tendency for high fidelity, decoration and multi crew operation.
