Description
A unique and fast paced scenario loosely based on the events of operation Earnest Will. This is my first scenario so if you encounter any issues, do reach out. Hope you enjoy!

USN Briefing: Operation Earnest Will
Date: 17th May, 1987
Time: 2200 Zulu
From: US Navy Central Command, Fifth Fleet Detachment
To: USS Stark (FFG-31), Commanding Officer

USS Stark, You are hereby ordered to proceed to rendezvous with the USS Vincennes at 77.6 NM from your current position, on a course of 057° at best speed. Your primary mission will be convoy escort operations in the outside vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz.

Be advised, Iranian forces are active in the region, engaging in trade interdiction and subversive operations. Expect fast attack craft patrolling the area (FACs) and potential hostile air assets, which may be blending in with civilian vessels and aircraft. Given the tense nature of this environment and the dense civilian traffic, take great care in not misidentifying contacts. Furthermore, be advised that you may be mistaken for Iraqi oil tankers, and engaged upon by Iranian forces, as has been happening over the course of this tanker war

Additionally, be advised that several groups of US Navy aircraft are conducting operations in the Gulf under radio silence. Be sure not to engage these aircrafts as they will not respond to any hail and are flying low to avoid radars.

Remain weapons tight with a sensor and weapon readiness level red. Keep a defensive posture and do not fire until fired upon particularly with regards to naval vessels. As for aircraft, you are only to engage if you are fired upon or can make a positive ID of a military aircraft approaching your ship. Be sure to hail all incoming aircraft to give them fair warning of your no-fly bubble.

In terms of positioning, your current location places you approximately 68.8 NM from Bandar Abbas, at an angle of 32.1° relative to your course. Proceed at 057° at best speed.
