Grunt
Step into the world of Grunt, where the battlefield is unforgiving and every decision counts. This mod, featuring the Sharp module (Shell Handling, Accuracy, and Range Project), transforms your gameplay experience by significantly increasing the ranges of small arms, cannons, mortars, and artillery. Prepare for a more challenging and realistic combat environment that will test your tactical skills to the limit.

Grunt introduces overhauled after-penetration effects, new slope angles, and removes enemy visibility from the minimap, ensuring that every encounter is a true test of strategy and skill. Features:
  • New ranges for all firearms, including small arms, cannons, mortars, and artillery.

  • Spotting distance has been changed.

  • New AP slopes and penetration curves added for cannons up to 2km!

    Reviving is harder because the time to revive has been reduced to a bare minimum.

  • Humans have a lower chance of being revive-able. Timer of bleedout also has been reduced.

  • Vehicles cannot be repaired as often when severely damaged.

  • The minimap does not show enemies, forcing a different play style compared to the base game or other mods with long-range fights.

  • The view distance has been increased to 150 meters on all maps and modes.

  • New Reflection Sounds have been added to emphasise the new distances.

    Snipers can shoot far in first person but not in third person.

  • Snipers cannot spot behind enemy lines anymore.

  • Shells can cause fires, especially with a higher load of TNT.

  • Over nearly 100 new shells, each with individually calculated penetration curves, splash damage, AP slopes, and fire-causing potential.

  • Mortars can fire up to 500m but are inaccurate. As you continue to fire at a specific range, accuracy will slowly improve. The same applies to enemy mortars!

DISCLAIMER:

This is the initial release, and it is not guaranteed that every mission will work as before. Most of them should and have been tested, though. Please post any bugs in the Steam forum so they can be resolved. Suggestions are welcome!
It is recommended to adopt a completely different playstyle than before. Move more cautiously, sending a single soldier ahead instead of an entire squad, and rethink your overall strategy.

Additional Information: A lot is generated by Sharp Tools. These are tools I have written to calculate penetration, accuracy, slopes, and more. Files are mostly auto-generated by it. Sharp Tools will be released separately if there is enough interest.

Do not use anything without permission!

  • Sound Reflections for all Weapons and Explosions (on going, first Version already implemented)
  • Infantry overhaul
  • FPS Module and compatibility with other first person mods if possibile
  • FX Module (maybe)

The work on Grunt is on going. It is planned to continuously work on everything.

Hi! I hope this mod is still compatible with the new updates released for GOH! At the moment I'm not able to provide support because I have a lot to do. I'll update it if it is crashing the game or anything. Anyhow, I will continue to work on it when I've got the time for it again. (might be a few month)
