Description
Beautiful visual and animation for 8 cell vls made by nuclearstonk ("New Threat Upgrade" Mod).
RIM-66L and SPS48E also made by him..
The 40mm Mounts were created by ManeuverWarfare. ("Cheng Kung-class" Mod).

This represents a fictional modernized and upgraded OHP Frigate. A possible time frame could be about 2004 (introduction of ESSM).

  • The SM1 has been upgraded to SM2 Blk3A for much greater range and intercept chance.

  • An 8 cell vls launcher is located on the bow. It is quad packed with the RIM-162Blk1 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile. A very capable short to medium range semi active SAM. I tried to model the ESSM by public numbers and also in reference to the base game RIM-7M.

  • To support the new SAMs,the Mk92 fire control System has been upgraded to now have 4 target channels and greater power. The STIR is now based on an SPG-62 instead of SPG-60. And the 2D SPS-49 has bee replaced by an 3D SPS-48E.

  • A RAM launcher is now located on the roof of the bridge for close in missile defence.

  • Added Mk15 Phalanx Block 1B to replace Legacy Phalanx, for a higher intercept chance.

  • 4 quad Harpoon launchers are installed between the masts. It does fire the RGM-84L wich has a limited land attack capability against stationary targets.

  • The Mk75 3 inch gun has been replaced by a Mk45 5 inch L62 Mod 4 gun, and can shoot just over 20nm thanks to its new EX-175 High Energy propellant charge.

  • To balance out the now slower firing main gun new 40mm guns have been installed on the sides, similar to the Cheng Kung-class. Those guns are modeled after a single barrel DARDO 40mm.

  • The onboard torpedoes are now the Mk50, replacing the Mk46. With a more sophisticated engine and more modern seeker it is faster, longer range, deeper diving and has better countermeasure rejection.

  • Added custom SH-2G Super Seasprite. The Super Seasprite is a modernized SH-2F with new engines, modernized systems and features a glass cockpit. The new APS-143 surface search radar has much better performance then the legacy LN-66. A FLIR was added which greatly improves visual range, especially at night.
    The SH-2G can be equipped with the MK-50 torpedo, Penguin Mk3 and AGM-65G. It now carries a newer generation of sonarboys with the SSQ-53D with longer runtimes and higher detection range.

  • The Towed Array has been upgraded to the AN/SQR-19B, which features a longer cable and greater detection range.

  • All the upgrades have increased the weight of the ship, I guessed 200t to a new displacement of 4300t.

  • The Engines have been upgraded from the Lm2500-30 (41 000 shp) to Lm2500+G4 (50 000 shp). Together with the weight increase I estimate a max speed increase to 33 knots.

  • The general modernization and new engines result in a more quite ship. The base noise level has been changed form 145db to 140db.

This mod works standalone, all the changed weapons and systems are included in the files.

Everything together represents quite a powerful and versatile but small frigate that I find quite fun to play.

Cool to hear that you like it that much!
I did think a lot about integrating more missiles, but in my opinion they would not really fit anywhere. The SM3 along with the SM6 especially don't really fit because they were introduced in 2013/14 and I would like to keep this OHP in the 2004/5 timeframe. The VLS could technically hold 8 SM2, but I think 32 ESSMs are much more valuable to have.

I completely understand about the sonar. I actually just looked down under the tico and realized how that behemoth would not work. I do have another idea if it's not too hard. There's an SM3 mod out now and I was wondering if you could somewhere incorporate that onto the Adv OHP in some way? Idk if it's possible to have 2 weapons in the single launcher although I'm not sure the SM3 would fit if there's a size constraint. Maybe in the VLS to replace some or all of the ESSM? I'm just throwing ideas out there. I really do love your mod. I sneak it into almost all the missions I run using the F10 menu because the guns alone are just too much fun and it can actually defend using the VLS

So I did look into this and my 19b actually has a bit higher gain then the ntu 19a. I believe that actually dictates the range because the whole sonar environment should be quite well simulated. I did change the range thats displayed to 80km just to be sure if that has any influence. But I do think that 130km is extremely optimistic, especially for the gain ntu sets.
And sorry I am not gonna mount the SQS-53, that is far too big to be remotely possible.

Could you possibly make another one or maybe edit this one if it's not too much? With NTU this towed array is actually worse. The standard SQR-19 has 130km of range while this one has 35km. Also possibly, again if it's not too much work, maybe mount the SQS-53 hull mounted sonar? It's an awesome mod btw :)
