Turn Logs Into Nails

Hey there everyone!

This is my first mod on the workshop on I appreciate you downloading it.




Firstly there are two ways in order to get the nails from the logs.

The first way being the sawing way which is pretty simple really, you just get an item with the tag saw and a log then you can go into your carpentry tab and select Saw log into nails.

The second way to get nails from a log is the carving way, with this way you'll need an item with the tags sharp knife and a workbench (just a table will do) and of course the log. You can then find the carve log into nails option in the carving tab of the crafting menu.




This mod was inspired by the one made by Cerejinha (Nails From Wood), but since in their description they state they won't update it, I decided to make my own mod for build 42! I made it because I hate finding/ making nails the normal way, and I like to build houses in the woods :D



P.S super cheaty but if you don't like it then don't download it or I could make another version where you can get a variable amount of nails from like 2 or 3 logs or scale it with carpentry and carving but thats way too much work for a newbie lol

Eyy thanks. Will be useful since 99% of progression is locked behind something that needs to be looted. Or very rarely foraged.

I've got homemade things but I haven't crafted anything from it yet so ill try to do that rn @LambVORTEX

A more balanced version where you need 4 logs to make nails would be nice. Also does this work with modded saws? Like ones from Homemade Things?

@Niknack Just tested it out in 2 new worlds (one with just the mod and one with 90~ mods) and the mod worked as intended for me.

Did you enable the mod? for the sawing method did you have a saw, a log and light. For the carving method did you have a Sharp Knife a log a table/ surface and light?

(From what i remember you also cant be totally fatigued or thats just me misremembering how crafting works)

@𝔹ℝ𝟛𝕄𝟙𝕏𝕌 that's weird, I just made a save and went to a forest to make some nails to test the mod and it worked just fine for me. Did you have a saw and did you click on the carpentry or the carving crafting menu? The carving method requires a knife and the Carpentry menu requires the saw.

Thank you! Now I can finally build my log cabin the way God intended. With logs! Those pesky roofs. Btw this is basically making dowels, which is the way we built most things before we had nails. It is realistic.
