As the increase in supply of housing will be by local authorities, they will earn more rental income… you are right that rent per property would’ve fallen; wealthy property portfolio holders will see increase in overall income despite fall in yield per property; hence increased disposable income for the youth

Surely this should reduce rental income as well as income for the wealthy since housing prices decreasing will allow renters to buy instead and that will lower monthly rent payments

Hi Zero, have increased crime, traffic, healthcare demand & water shortage to make this more balanced; will perhaps look to add sewage, energy demand & environmental impact too. Let me know what you think…

Zero fair point … in UK whilst land is cheap, housebuilding isn’t. A local or central authority whether in UK or elsewhere, with competence & vision, can and should be able to build new houses cheaply, whilst auction off older stock in much well established areas at significant profits. Government locally or nationally can & should use the housing stock on their books as collateral and get cheap financing; adult education programs to ensure there is sufficient skills for the housing industry would facilitate building efficiently & effectively. A well established public-private partnership can make investing in housing by government a win-win for all.

Ideally, I would have liked to see costs higher than income in the short term… income to meet or exceed costs in the long run. I’ll tweak it to balance it slightly if it helps.

Thanks for your feedback Zero!

I think that this is a bit unbalanced, this genuinely produced enough money itself for me to be able to cancel both sales tax and payroll tax in the UK. I think it could realistically pay for itself plus a little bit more but not rival income tax in how much money it produces.

I would also like to see some downside to it (apart from the water shortage which was easy to deal with because of all the extra money).
