It's the crime of the century mates! The very same diesel locomotive that involved in The Great Train Robbery of 1963!

On the night of 8th August, the train from Glasgow to London pulled by a BR Class 40 diesel carried £2,500,000 was targeted by a gang lead by Ronnie Biggs. They tampered the signal light at Sears Crossing to stop the train and coshed the train crew Driver Jack Mills and his secondman David Whitby before hijacking the train. When the robbers realised they couldn’t move the train on their own, they forced the half-conscious Driver Mills to move the decoupled mail coach and a parcel van from the rest of the train to Bridego Bridge where they can unload the money into their getaway Land Rovers and a lorry.

D326 (later 40 126) loco was considered to be a jinxed loco by the railwaymen, with some drivers reluctant to drive it. Up until it's withdrawal in 1984, the loco was offered to the National Railway Museum who declined it and was reduced into scrap pile.

D318 (40 118) made a fame in a 1967 film, Robbery which starred Stanley Baker and James Booth and it was a fictionalised version of the Great Train Robbery itself. In the film D318 starred in a role based on its sister loco D326 where it involved in the robbery. Happily enough D318 has survived into preservation and it's currently residing at Tyseley Locomotive Works awaiting to be restored.

About this Model:

This pack consists of an English Electric Type 4 (BR Class 40) diesel-electric loco with swappable, one with split headcodes, and the other are normal ones, as well as separate split headcodes and headcode disc accessories.
Please note that each liveries have their own yellow wheel bearing variants.
