Extra info: I saw 35028 at Eastleigh in 1972 (I think) just after it had it's first major overhaul for preservation, after being purchased. I have a photo of it looking like new. Magnificent.
Supposedly it did 104mph at Axminster. I went there in 1967 to watch Bulleid Pacifics blasting through on their final duties. What a site. I'm pretty sure on one of my many trips, I timed one at near 95mph going through Micheldever from Waterloo to Southampton.
Maybe in a few months. I am having a few months break. Cheers.
Great you enjoyed your First Class window view. I often do it also.
