Description
Mod Discontinued

I've set this mod to unlisted, because High beams has a feature to keep headlights at full health as well is improving headlight distance, so I won't be updating this mod at all.

(Unlisted means the mod is accessible with the URL and anyone subscribed can still use it, so it doesn't break any save games)

---

Keeps your headlights functional, no matter how many zombies you drive into.

Set a minimum health level in sandbox options (50 by default) and your headlights will remain at that condition.

This mod only affects the car you're currently driving, and the condition updates happen every ten minutes - so if you do enough damage quickly enough you can still destroy your headlights, and you may see the light level dip after taking damage before being restored.

Mod is structured for B42 only.

FAQ:

The mod is called "Hardened Headlights" but it also affects tail lights, is that a bug?

No, it's me trying to think of a good name for the mod because the working title "Lux Aeterna" was far too pretentious for 1990s Kentucky and settling on "Hardened Headlights" at the very last moment.

Will this work in multiplayer?

I think so. Try it out when B42 multiplayer is released and let me know.

Is this compatible with <other mod>?

Almost certainly. A weird custom vehicle that doesn't use standard names for headlights might not benefit from it though.

Can I set he minimum condition to 100 so I always have perfect headlights?

Sure, but I find 50 is a nice balance of getting a noticeable benefit by swapping in fresh bulbs without being completely blind at night because they broke.

Can this mod be abused to magically heal dead light bulbs by swapping them in and driving around for 10 minutes?

Yes. I'm not going to stop you from doing that, mainly because it would be a lot of extra coding work with some weird fringe cases to make sure headlights were never healed above their initial damage level. Plus it's your game, do whatever you will enjoy the most.

That "My car is a daemonic vessel that can never be killed" mod you mentioned would be great, there's nothing more I hate in this game than repairing/fixing vehicles and the grind required to do so (or the points required to not have to grind as much), so an unbreakable car mod would be great!
damn it!

@I hit jellyfish with hammers not possible with a lua mod; the zombie vision/hearing is handled by the java side of the game and that only accepts the sandbox options as choices for vision/hearing.
hey could you make a mod that makes zombies able to be completely blind/deaf? I wanna have zombies stand still dormant until you bleed

I think I'll make a new mod using the code from this one as a base with a greater range of options; this one can stay as a simple "I want to see my car fall apart on me in the middle of the night so I can get anticipate the joy of running down a pitch black highway full of zombies" mod and the new one will be "My car is a daemonic vessel that can never be killed" mod.

Will you make similar mods/update this mod to add this feature to different car parts in addition to headlights? I would like the ability to do this with the hood and trunk too!
