The Great War of 2082
7 items
Description
August 15th, 2082. Colonel Benya Mastaf al-Siqily's separatist movement had turned into a full-blown war between the Kingdom of West Sahara and the so-called "Republic" of Sicily, led by the ambitious, crafty and charismatic il Presidente Amadeo Marconi de Corvo, the de facto self-appointed "president for life".

Sicily was perhaps the greatest threat in the Mediterranean, and they had long been rivals with West Sahara. Sensing weakness in the wake of King Mezian III's death and the ascension of the now twenty five year old Amir I to the throne, the Sicilian dictator, upon Mastaf's successful coup of the municipal government in Tunisia, sent copious amounts of supplies, troops and armored fighting vehicles to ensure the separatist territory would remain securely Sicilian territory.

It took two weeks and three days, but at last, after numerous battles fought in the western half of the Med, and in the mid-Atlantic, King Amir was able to consolidate his forces and prepare an invasion of Tunis and the greater metropolitan area. A dozen ships, give or take, drawn from the depleted Capital fleet and Prince Mahmar's (Amir's uncle, younger brother to King Mezian, brilliant and loyal naval commander) own carrier strike group, which had previously been deployed to patrol the waters near the eastern side of the Panama canal, had all finally arrived to blockade the Strait of Sicily and cut Tunis off from any potential resupply from across the channel.

The opening of the invasion would begin in Bizerte, where defenses were easily the weakest. Ground forces from the 12th Brigade Combat Team stationed in Algiers under the command of Brigadier General Mishaya Merazar al-Rabat would split up when the newly assembled royal fleet docked in Algiers to refit and re-arm; the 1st and 2nd battalions of the 12th Infantry Regiment, along with the 3rd and 7th battalions of the 12th Armored Regiment, would be brought aboard landing ships to be escorted by the rapidly growing hodgepodge of warships.

The other half of the BCT would link back up with the landing force by the time they secured Bizerte, if all went according to plan; if not, the rapidly advancing armored force would encircle the city, and thus it would fall regardless; at the same time the landing was occurring, Royal Army Rangers and the 44th Air Assault Regiment would be parachuted in, and flown in by helicopter, respectively, to flank from the western ridgeline, completing the West Saharan stranglehold on the Separatist and Sicilian forces.

From there, the plan was to head south, secure Mateur, consolidate all ground forces, reinforce the blockade on the coasts, and no later than the 17th, begin the assault on Tunis to drive out the rebels and the Sicilian invaders.

Sit tight folks. I've been busy with school the last couple of months. Soon I'll have the next part of this campaign finished, and in the meantime I'm going to be rolling out day-night cycles across all my missions as well as doing some semi-major updates and tweaks as I feel is needed.

Here soon I'll be uploaded the next part of this campaign. I had to start completely from scratch which I wasn't happy about. I haven't lost motivation, just two days worth of progress.
