Description
North-American Rockwell NR-349 Vigilante Improved Manned Interceptor MOD (semi-fictional)

The F-14 is no longer the sole AIM-54 truck!

Developed from the RA-5C by North-American Rockwell for the USAF IMI (Improved Manned Interceptor) Program in 1972, the NR-349 was a proposed interceptor armed with six AIM-54 Phoenix air-to-air missiles, and propulsed by three General Electric J79-GE-10 turbojets. Eventually, the Air Force didn't follow up on that concept but what if the Navy had decided to adopt it and carried out their experiments on USS Enterprise?

The NR-349 carries six AIM-54s semi-submerged under the fuselage and is equiped with the same Hugues AN/AWG-9 (Track-While-Scan) radar than the F-14 (replacing the AN/APD-7). Thanks to its 3 reactors (the 3rd one is not shown on the model) it has a top speed of mach 2.5 and a ceiling of 80,000 feet.

The mod comes with 2 variants of USS Enterprise's loadout: one with 4 NR-349s replacing the RA-5Cs, and another one with 12 NR-349s as a substitution for one of the F-14 squadrons.

You'll find the NR-349 in the mission editor (or encyclopedia) @ Nation: USA / Unit Type: Interceptor / Unit Name: NR-349.

Note: If you publish a scenario using this mod, do not forget to indicate in your description that in order it works the players need to subscribe to this mod first ;).

Important (about mods and mods use):
This mod has been tested and is running perfectly on my computer (i7-11800H @ 2.30 Ghz - 16 GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050) with no other mod enabled. However, since they are as many computer configurations than computer users, it's unfortunately impossible to guarantee it will work on yours.
Be aware that by installing mods for Sea Power, you are modifying your game experience from the original intended product which is (as of Jan 2025) still in EARLY ACCESS. Therefore, later game updates/patches may cause this mod to be deprecated. Although it is very unlikely, the presence of other enabled mods might cause conflicts, and the more enable mods on your computer, the greater the chance of conflict. So, to sum it up, USE MODS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
If you wish to clean uninstal this mod make sure to follow these steps: 1) Uncheck this mod in the mod manager. 2) Click on Accept. 3) Unsubscribe. Then make sure the mod's file is no longer in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1286220 folder.

Love the mod, but even more - love the attention to detail regarding PC configurations, technical details, semi-historical context, etc.

I've been modding for 15 years since New Vegas back in 2010 (....God I'm old, lol) and it's rare to see mod authors give such consideration to mod users, especially given the free nature of the content.

Just thanks for being awesome and for your help in creating an extensive, engaging modding community to a great game. :)
