Description
Overview

The People's Liberty Front (Also known as the PLF) is a faction in an alternate galaxy to the one in Cosmoteer, where the Terran Union's end was a lot more violent.

There are four different ship types used by the Federation, similar to the base-game factions.

Civilian - 5
Civilian ships are transport vessels that supply frontlines, planets, and stations.

Combat - 24
Combat ships are what powers war; Front doctrine is mostly focused on scavenged, hijacked craft, or small independently-made craft.

Defense - 6
Small defensive platforms usually guard larger stations. They are the first line of defense.

Stations - 5
Stations are what makes ships and facilitates trade. These are often very limited though in case of the PLF.

Lore

Overview
Upon Sol's destruction in 2272, the Terran Union fractured into a myriad of different nations. The largest among these were the:
Armstrong Mining Cooperative (Also called the Monolith Cooperative, due to it's discovery of the Armstrong Monolith), a megacorporation claiming to be the succesor to Earth's government,
Centaurus Constellation, an unstable yet powerful cluster of stars,
Cabal of Sol, a union of systems that mostly believe in one religion, and
Orion Federation, a loosely-tied alliance in the Orion Constellation.

The four major powers weren't all that united though. Inspired by their peers, many sought independence and self-determination from their opressors. One of these groups is the PLF.

History of the People's Liberty Front
The People's Liberty Front is not technically a faction with it's own territory, but instead a sort of association of people under the control of the Monolith Cooperative. Since it isn't a legal entity within the Cooperative, it's has never managed to garner enough support able to resist the Cooperative effectively. This weakness is compounded with the fact that rarely any people in power ever care to support the Front, as much of them are loyalists to the Monolith Cooperative. This leaves the penurious, impoverished, and crime-stricken people of the colonies as the only ones willing to support the movement.

The People's Liberty Front began as a secret organization on one of the Cooperative's many colonies, aiming to reduce inequality between peoples and wealth, and establish self-governance. Soon, word of the association spread, and many joined it's cause, and the colony of New Madison became a stronghold of the PLF's cause. Such a quick growth soon rendered the organization's ability to remain secret null, and caught the attention of the Cooperative's military forces. Concerned with it's weak hold onto New Madison, the Monolith Cooperative decided to pacify the colony, which was recieved with great alarm when the PLF found out. The already strained internal politics of the People's Liberty Front reached a boiling point when the course of action in response to the military operation could not be agreed upon. One side wanted to seize spacecraft and transport as many supporters out of New Madison, while the other wanted to dig in and resist the attack. Eventually, the organization fractured, and discoordinated groups tried to execute the two plans at the same time.

The New Madison Insurgency, or New Madison Massacre, started three days before the arrival of Cooperative troops, as PLF insurgents started to seize important assets, and blockade the streets in anticipation of the Cooperative counter-insurgents. The actual fighting ended in the insurgency's failiure, but the sheer destruction, execution, war chemical usage, artillery shelling, orbital bombardment, and street fighting rendered the colony almost destroyed.

The ones who managed to hijack ships and escape from New Madison had to mostly fend for themselves, as little support of the PLF was in stations. This meant scavenging wrecks, and mining asteroids was the fate of most PLF supporters not planet-bound. The only permanent PLF stations were squalid, run-down outposts hidden among asteroid fields.

Ship Design
The Front's ship design is varied, but mostly comes from the Cooperative. 1x1 wedges, blocky construction, ect.. The visual design is quite basic. Often following along edges, with some more interesting patterns sprinkled in on the inside.

Weaponry and defense is mostly what other ships have. Shields are rarely utilized, but both energy and projectile weapons are used equally.

The PLF's industry is almost non-existent. As such, some ships are unoriginal, instead coming from other factions (Mainly the Cooperative). The ones that are independently designed are often quite small.

Nah, it's just a bunch of ships you can place where ever you want.

does this add a custom faction with it's own ships? or just a bunch of ships that you can place where ever you want?

The ships by design and paint work isn't fairly near best, BUT I always enjoy lore that people devoted much into. Plus so many pro began their collection of ship from which, that include me and my whole collection. So good job with your ship pack, and glade you have fun with the game.
