Operation Irontide-Assault on Tunis

Description
Comrade Commander, your mission is of critical importance to the success of our joint Soviet-Libyan campaign!

The Soviet Union, alongside our Libyan allies, has established a beachhead near Tunis as part of our plan to secure control over Tunisia. This region is essential for establishing dominance in the Mediterranean and extending the influence of our bloc. However, the situation is rapidly deteriorating.

On the Tunisian coast, Soviet and Libyan ground forces are under heavy assault by Tunisian and Algerian troops. Our tanks, already deployed, are facing encirclement and risk being overrun. Reinforcements from the sea are essential to stabilize the front.

In the Gulf of Tunis, a Soviet invasion fleet, including Ropucha-class and Ivan Rogov-class landing ships, is preparing to deploy additional ground forces. This fleet is supported by the Sverdlov-class cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov and two Krivak II-class frigates. However, intelligence indicates that the Algerian Navy has deployed submarines and missile boats to disrupt our fleet.

To bolster the invasion, the Minsk, a Soviet Kiev-class aircraft carrier, has been dispatched with her escorts. The Minsk brings critical air power to the operation, including Yak-38 aircraft, Ka-27 ASW helicopters, and advanced surface-to-air missile defenses.

Our Libyan allies have mobilized Mirage F1C and F1E fighters, armed with Exocet missiles and bombs, to support the invasion effort. Additionally, four Beir Grassa-class missile boats from the Libyan Navy are patrolling the Gulf of Tunis. Expect heavy Algerian resistance, including possible airstrikes and fast-attack craft operations.

Algeria was a strong ally of both the USSR and Libya, why are they on the opposing side here?
