hmmm... maybe i start to calibrate something together now, nice talking to you.

Maybe not the extents specifically but I did go into detail how to use the sensors. The extents can be minimum in all directions except the direction of the surface you are hovering over. you can see the extents here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v191/legofreak1988/2014-11-10_00002_zps0ada34d3.jpg

...this is also a blueprint that you can download and look at...

And yes you do need the rotor if you want this to level your ship above the ground. having thrusters on a seperate grid creates angular acceleration instead of linear acceleration. (which means your ship will rotate.)

uhm... fairly hard wen you didn't write about any sensor extents or stuff like that. sry if im irritating or something similar, just didn't get clear on everything but i've arranged thrust and sense as you said and i'm not getting any info on their extents, srry :)

PS: do you even need that little rotor???

Sorry I didnt see your comment earlier. It's fairly simple. You place a rotor and make sure it will not rotate. Then, you attach one thruster facing up and one facing down. Next, you need a pair of sensors. One on top of the other, like you see in the picture, is the best layout i've found. If you read these comments, I explained how the sensors are set up to control the thrusters. You also will need these modules on at least 3 or 4 points around your ship.

Hello there! i drove the M44 HammerHead on steam wkshop and your hovermechanism is just gorgeous!!! can you post me instructions on how to create one of these? Please?

I'm glad you got it working. It's not a perfect system, but it does the job.

Yep, that worked! The problem was that I didn't reverse the roles of the top and bottom sensors for each module. Now that the top sensor controls the bottom thruster and vice versa, the middle ground between the sensor ranges can be reached without either upward or downward thrust overpowering the other. That's something I must've overlooked when I was initially studying your blueprint. Thank you!

the top sensor controls the bottom thruster and the bottom sensor controls the top thruster. their functions are reversed. when the bottom sensor no longer detects the surface its over, the top thruster will turn on, pushing itself towards the surface. when the top sensor detects the surface, the bottom thruster turns on, pushing itself away from the surface. because the sensors are over one another, there is a gap where the surface can exist between and the sensors are in equilibrium(bottom sensor activated, top not activated) example: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v191/legofreak1988/2014-11-10_00002_zps0ada34d3.jpg

Try checking if they are set to detect the surface you are over. I'm not sure I set them to detect everything as sensors will only detect players by default.

So, I decided to make something really basic to test this module out. I set all the options on the sensors, rotors, and thrusters from the module onto the ones I made, but it's not working properly. Once they reach a certain height, the thruster override only kicks in on the bottom thrusters. All of the sensors turn blue and I sky rocket into space. Then sometimes when I disable and re-enable the bottom thrusters to get back to the ground, the top ones kick in, all sensors turn green, and I plummet to my platform, unable to lift up,

Basically saying the thrusters won't level themselves as I've seen on other builds that use your module. Once again, I set each of the 4 modules I made exactly as they are on your blueprint. I made sure each sensor is set to the correct thruster and the same bottom extent, I set the rotor the the appropriate displacement, and I set the thrusters to override. I just can't seem to get them to function. I don't know what i'm doing wrong...
