Description
Play as Poland's first president by popular vote, Lech Wałęsa; in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.

Lech Wałęsa represents the flaws in communism representing the proletariat class. As an electrician fresh from his compulsory military service, Wałęsa quickly joined the ranks of activists to oppose the Communist treatment of workers. Between the 1970s and 1980s, Wałęsa would have leadership thrust on him as the Polish authority sprang to suppress trade unions and other reform movements that erode totalitarian authority. By the time Poland was ready to exit communism, Lech stood as the most popular Pole for the job. Though beloved, a mix of media campaigns and the old guard of socialist bureaucracy would supplant him and his conservative-esq ideology. Wałęsa remains an icon of democracy even after several scandals aligning the man with the Communists have come to light.
