The Aurora could be classed as the big sister of the Helldiver series previously unveiled by DFS. While the Helldivers were a good starting point, their platform was outdated and supported little room for improvement. Some unreleased iterations were made, such as the X1-03 fighters equipped with blasters and miniguns respectively, and the X1-01-SP, a space-adapted version of the Helldiver X1-01. The unweaponized planes still made their mark, however. But when the latest stunt run was done with the Helldiver X1-03, DFS knew it was time to upgrade. This entailed a much needed frame redesign, the addition of more thrust, and arguably the most important aspect, the twitch yaw control. The twitch yaw was created out of neccessity, as the older stunt planes by DFS had no such system, resulting in crashes that could have been avoided if the plane was just a little to one side. DFS also chose a different color scheme for the Aurora, opting for the classic 'Nova Blue' instead of 'Battle-born' or the older 'Hellscape' that the Helldivers wore. The Aurora is now regarded as the best flyer among DFS. As they say, 'practice makes perfect', but the Aurora makes practice all the more enjoyable.
