Date: 23 April 1972
Task Force Commander: SAG Oklahoma City

Mission Objective: Destruction of Vinh Air Base, Vietnam
________________________________________
1. Mission Context
Operation Coastal Strike Vinh is part of a broader effort to establish air superiority in the Southeast Asian region. The North Vietnamese Vinh Air Base, located north of Don Hoi, represents a significant threat to our forces and operations in the region. The primary objective of the mission is to weaken enemy air capabilities by destroying this critical military installation.

2. Description of Vinh Air Base
Vinh Air Base is equipped with:
• A considerable number of combat aircraft, including fighters and bombers.
• Surface-to-air missile (SAM) defenses protecting the surrounding airspace.
• Anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) batteries providing robust defense against air incursions.
The combination of these defenses makes the mission highly complex and dangerous, underscoring the need for meticulous planning and precise execution.

3. Mission Phases

Phase 1: Reconnaissance and Assessment
• Conduct aerial reconnaissance missions using aircraft to assess the current state of Vinh’s defenses.
• Obtain high-resolution imagery of the facilities and positions of SAM and AAA systems.

Phase 2: Suppression of Defenses
• Deployment of air assets to conduct a suppression of defenses (SEAD) campaign.
• Use cluster bombs and missiles to neutralize first the AAA batteries and then the SAM systems, ensuring safe passage for bombers.
Phase 3: Attack on the Base
• Once the defenses have been neutralized, the direct air attack on the base will proceed.
• The bombers, supported by cover fighters, will drop their explosive payloads on the enemy installations and aircraft.

4. Logistical Support
The CV-61 aircraft carrier will provide the necessary air support for the mission, ensuring that sufficient air resources are available to carry out all phases of the operation.

5. Final Considerations
Vinh Air Base must be completely destroyed
Oklahoma City must survive

Maximum coordination between all units involved and preparation to adapt to any eventuality during the operation is required. Go ahead, Commander! The mission is in your hands!
