Protogenic systems are plural systems who have been so since birth or close to it. Protogenic systems have no memory of any period where they existed as a singlet, or as someone who has not suffered a split in identity. This may be due to to amnesia or other factors. As far as a Protogenic system is aware, they have always been plural.

System origin is both a topic of controversy and pride for many systems as it can be a way to identify with and heal alongside others like them.
