Description
1,335 bricks.

My take on the iconic German WW 2 Panzerkampfwagen IV / Pz.Kpfw. IV / Panzer IV tank. It's an approximation, not a 1:1 replica, as per usual due to the massive guns and massive Bobs we deal with in the game. E.g. the gun is positioned too low in the turret, but otherwise it'll hit the roof, and I have only 3 seats instead of 5 since there is precious little room inside and the loader and gunner are out of their jobs anyway. I kept the interior super simplistic to save bricks.
This is the early Ausführung D/Version D armed with the short-barreled 75 mm Kampfwagenkanone/KwK 37 L/24. The rod under the barrel is used to push away hte antenna without disturbing the gun.

The Panzerkampfwagen IV (Pz.Kpfw. IV), commonly known as the Panzer IV, is a German medium tank developed in the late 1930s and used extensively during the Second World War. Its ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 161.

The Panzer IV was the most numerous German tank and the second-most numerous German fully tracked armoured fighting vehicle of the Second World War; 8,553 Panzer IVs of all versions were built during World War II, only exceeded by the StuG III assault gun with 10,086 vehicles. Its chassis was also used as the base for many other fighting vehicles, including the Sturmgeschütz IV assault gun, the Jagdpanzer IV self-propelled anti-tank gun, the Wirbelwind and Ostwind self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, and the Brummbär self-propelled gun.

The Panzer IV saw service in all combat theatres involving Germany and was the only German tank to remain in continuous production throughout the war. The Panzer IV was originally designed for infantry support, while the similar Panzer III was to fight armoured fighting vehicles. However, as the Germans faced the formidable T-34, the Panzer IV had more development potential, with a larger turret ring to mount more powerful guns, so it swapped roles with the Panzer III whose production wound down in 1943.

The Panzer IV was partially succeeded by the Panther medium tank, which was introduced to counter the Soviet T-34, although it continued to be a significant component of German armoured formations to the end of the war.
****

The Ausführung D / Version D was mainly designed as an infantry support tank and it's short KwK 37 L/24 gun was primarily intended to engage soft targets and fortifications with HE and smoke rounds. It had AP rounds but they soon proved ineffecient against the newer Allied tanks.

niiiiice!

It actually works at a 60 degree angle too. Over that the shell despawns before it lands so no mortars possible but a 15 cm howitzer on a Hummel should actually work. :)

So I just did some testing and without a barrel on the gun the HE shell can actually be fired at an approximate 45 degree angle and still not despawn before it lands so I might have a crack at the Hummel after all. It's a cool vehicle.
Max firing distance will of course be way too short but that doesn't relly matter in game anyway.

alright then
