The Velox SRRB was a welcome change from the standard space and air dogfighting vehicles DFS has been cranking out ever since their days in S020. Bombers were never really considered, as they tended to be inefficient and too heavy to be viable. The closest DFS had ever gotten to a bomber before this point was the Hunter fighter jet, but that had many issues regarding flight stability and manuverability. A space bomber was considered at one point, but bombs reqire gravity to work, so that was almost immediately out of the question. Then, one day, DFS CEO Quadfan620 was wandering the DFS warehouses and came across a small, split-wing plane that had previously been used for low-speed stunts, and that had not been touched in years. This plane, once the DFS warehouse crews brought it to the fabrication plant, was the basis for the Velox. The plane was repeatedly built up, torn down, reconsidered, and redesigned until the final design made its debut on the DFS private runway. Some of the original parts from the split-wing still remain in the Velox, like the cockpit, sections of the elevator fins, and most of the nose. Originally made for stunts, the Velox now puts on its own show, but this time more destructive than ever before.
